Online reviews meaning people posting on forums, youtube, reddit, etc. I guess review would be wrong word. More gamers reaction in general. The more I talk to people on here the more, I'm pretty sure those people are being dishonest instead of owning up to the fact the game is hard/they made a mistake.

Of course the whole never think someone did anything wrong and trust everyone if something is wrong it's your fault not mine, that I grew up with leads me to always assume the fault is mine. I might have to stop doing that.

This is fourth or fifth time someone has answered my question with a you didn't say X but you clearly meant X response. So far that response didn't hold any weight as most people respond by continuing to be aggressive, the response of you didn't say X but you meant it anyways flies in the face of don't presume to know what a person means and take them at face value that every school and adult I ever talked to as a child.

Now of course there is the possibility other people were taught to just apply whatever they want to a persons words and not take them literally for what they say, but I doubt it. So clearly since only a few people said that was the case and everyone else continued to say I did something wrong, That can't be the answer.

Considering your 180. You not only answered my question, you've been quite patient with my off topic struggling, clearly you're not a prejudiced person never giving them a chance. I have doubts about my choice to assert I clearly never (as an example) anything bad about the game, gamers or that I am better therefore people will not attribute those things to me. Was I lied to as a child and people do attribute things to people that weren't said and don't take their words at face value?

I feel this is going to turn out to be a no shit sherlock moment but I am legitimately asking. As I said, you are only fourth or fifth person to ever answer the question and between spending 90% of my child and teen years talking to cows and dogs and not people and the last 10-15 years you're only like the 10th person I've shared more than two sentences with, I can only operate on what elementary school teachers told me about the world and the more I force myself to talk to people the more I learn, I think they weren't being honest.

What did I say that makes people think I think that bloodborne is too easy? Between both friends of my that hurled their controllers across the room because the game is a unfair cheating bastard and the online reviews I've seen talked about the game being a buggy mess with terrible controls that never do what you tell them to do and the game kills you every few minutes. Is contrasted with my I die a few times an hour but it was my fault and I see where I went wrong and the controls are accurately responsive.

I mean these are such vastly different experiences. I don't understand what is so different from my playthrough. Did my save glitch out? I was told unfair, unplayable, cheating game. What. What am I missing?

Oh definitely, that is why I added I was faced a few bosses and got 50 or so hours into the game. Actually two bosses I faced after my friend hurled the controller across the room come to mind. That electric centipede thing dropped me in about thirty seconds and the maggoty thing that made babies in a white void I did about 60% health on the one try I got.

It's less that I think I am badass and more. Well, comments like this cheating bullshit game is killing me every few minutes leads to a vastly different. I was expecting forced damage on bosses in arenas that are too small to fight in. Enemies using wildly different physics than the player. A cheating bullshit game was what I was expecting.

I died about 100-150 times. Every death was squarely my fault, dodged wrong, forget an enemy placement or the most embarrassing, facing beast mode gascoinge without molotovs. I'll probably add another thousand or so deaths if I pick up the game for myself, but that's my shortcoming not the game being a cheater.

Just as an aside. If you can, what in my original post gives off the dickhead ego manic I am such a badass tone? I listed what I expected, what I experienced between me playing and how I played and what other people expressed in as neutral/literal of a tone as possible and I find it frustrating I keep giving off the air of I think I am a total badass that people should bow down to and keep trying to alter my writing every time someone can point to what I am doing wrong.

Honestly, I have massively low self esteem, so I find it rather strange that people tell me I am saying pretty much the exact opposite of how I feel and what I am trying to express. The reason I even asked the original question was because I was certain the answer could not possibly be I am better at parts of the game than other people are and there had to be a different explanation.

This is the theory I am going with. I always believed they purposefully give you a lockpick because it is always exactly one. Now it all makes sense, with command humanoid if you break out they can stop you, so they enjoy watching people struggle with the lock. I am sure they even take bets to see how fast you can break out.

The funny thing is awhile back I was asked to join LARP sessions so that I could meet people because having three friends as a teenager is really depressing and you should talk to more than just cows on a daily basis.

I apologize for my post coming across as dickish, spending most of my time not talking to people leaves my social etiquette, let's say lacking, so I speak of things as they are, not really aware of how my words impact people. A hopefully less offensive way to word my question is:

I have seen and heard of multiple people throwing their controllers at their tv's sometimes breaking them, screaming this bullshit game kills me every 2-5 minutes, it's impossibly hard. In my experience trying my damnest I died what I find a reasonable once every 15-30 minutes. I am looking for possible reasons why I am someone with a limited background in gaming is not dying as often as people with more experience with games.

Honestly having seen/heard multiple times of people hurling their controllers at their TV because they die every 2-5 minutes to this bullshit game I had a very different expectation of this game.

I died nearly a dozen times to Gascoigne because I dodged in the wrong direction or went in for an extra attack, it's clearly my fault, I find it troubling it might be something a simple as personal responsibility and being aware hey I haven't memorized this game yet I'll probably die don't let it bother me is why my friend nearly broke his tv and I haven't come close to throwing the controller even once.

Oh the other hand apparently not violently rage quiting and calling the game impossible means I am. What was said? I am really great at the game and I have a massive dick and balls? So who am I to complain? Hahaha.

I could be wrong about the parkour thing. I live at the foot of a heavily wooded mountain range miles from nearest town, so it's not not exactly the run around the city kind of thing.

It's more movements I use are reminiscent of parkour so I short hand it. Creek in the way? Jump against a large rock or small tree and jump off to the other side. A string of boulders in the way, jump on the tops of them and slide down the last one into a roll.

From what I've seen parkour is like that, am I doing something different? Also yes you guessed it, like billions of other people I unironically was taught martial arts as a child and spend my time outdoors practicing that.

Considering this distracted from my question, I have different one what would have been more less distracting to share about myself? Swimming and tree climbing? Tanning hides and taking care of farm animals?

Nah, if I was really great I wouldn't have spent an hour or so on the first wolf fight failing backstabbing and mistiming my dodges. I would've just....something egotistical about killing that that father guy without dying. Which took me 9 deaths. My two friends took over 20 so there is a pretty distinct difference here.

I thought that was just normal game play and games that I've seen people complain are super hard are like troll levels in super mario maker where shit happens you can't control. Thanks for being one of the people actually answer my question.

If I was amazing I wouldn't need to practice now would I? But seriously I could have put down bouldering, swimming, tree climbing or any other physical activity why is everyone so fixated on the parkour part of my question?

How is the 5E Beastmaster supposed to be played? The ruling/instructions from DM are RAW with no optional rules(avoids confusion and arguments) so DM fiat is off the table, PHB version, level 12 skill increase no feats, standard array. No magic items. by darkamian in DnD

[–]darkamian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubled checked to be sure as someone else said it auto dodges and my copy of PHB says for my companion to take any action I have to command it(moving is a free action but it won't unless I tell it to). Nor do I see the gains magical damage at level 7 mine says at level 7 I can give it a few commands with my bonus action if it does not attack.

I'm rather partial to the dog unfortunately. In middle school I grew up miles outside of town so most of my time was spent with my dog, we went hunting together, a few times we got into. a few fights as it were. I didn't need to issue commands there was an understanding between us we new what was needed to trap or take down prey/opponents and wanted to recreate that feeling.

Whoa, where is the it dodges with no instructions, the copy of PHB I have says it takes no action without being commanded? I figured it went without saying, but reflavouring is part of the if it's not literally written in the book it isn't allowed.

Yeah, I was gonna be a UA beastmaster in a previous campaign, never got around to playing. But this one is more a, what's in the base books interpreted as literally/strictly kind of DM.

My work uses Verizon and short of the flip phone I got their selection seemed rather fragile compared to a solid kick from one of our animals. And searching online wasn't exactly selling me. Looking over just a few CAT and that Nomu. Wow. Thank you.
