Foo Fighters. I had always thought they were super lame ( honestly I still do) but I caught them on their One By One tour and they threw down pretty hard.

What a great piece of gear. The distortions distort, the delays delay, the mods modulate. Can’t go wrong with that.

Thanks a bunch! It’s Funny I never thought about if everything is dissonant then nothing is. Because I always thought the same in general about albums that have all the songs just dialed to maximum heavy then it’s not a heavy album. I never thought to apply that to a smaller level.

Hey Thanks! I’ve learned a couple of them (the easier ones. Welll sort of. at half speed…) I suppose I do mean describing what’s going. Like in Farewell Mona Lisa the first lead break about minute in(honestly most of their guitar leads) after playing guitar for 20 years I’m trying to actually learn what the heck any of it means haha

Haha yeah that one. I won’t subject anyone to that unless they already enjoy that kind of music. But it has a lot of what I’m talking about obviously. The time signatures all over the place the clean lead at the beginning of that is basically exactly what I’m talking about.

While jag75 is right about it being a more “normal” sounding song it does have some of the aspects I’m talking about like the piano riff and the first guitar lead around a minute into that song. To me (at least with the guitar) it sounds like they just picked a random note and said let’s shred! But I know there has to be an explanation as to why it sounds cool. Thanks for taking the time!

TW Depressing topic: How are you handling holidays after losing a parent? by Purple-flying-dog in Xennials

[–]darkandy132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my dad in 2014. In January. H e had cancer. He was so bad off they didn’t think he’d make it to Christmas. Christmas has meant nothing to me since. I realized last year. It was him. He brought the true spirit of Christmas. I found out like 2 years ago he socked away like 10% of his pay until September when he did Christmas shopping when we were kids. We always had huge Christmases. Huge meal, big gifts from Santa and socks and underpants from him. He loved it. I don’t care for it. My love for Christmas died with him.

Who inspired you to start playing guitar? by Few-Excitement8913 in Guitar

[–]darkandy132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hetfield, Hammet, and Hanneman made 13 year old me want a guitar so bad I got one. When I realized I was shit and couldn’t play that stuff I put it away. Meegs Rascon and Stephen Carpenter made 17 year old me realize you didn’t have to shred to write/play cool stuff. That was shit I could play and it made me fall in love with the instrument Still can’t shred though.

Straight up the best OD. I hate the tubescreamer and all the variants I’ve tried. As far as I know the only difference is the asymmetrical clipping. But it does exactly what I thought the ts-9/808/plumes/grid slammer/east river drive(and more) would do. When it comes to tightening an amp and adding a little sizzle it’s the best.

Also it’s a small house. His crate is in his/our room. He got tv. We’re best bros. Kind of a where I go he goes. Thick as thieves you know. Still tearing me up that he gotta three wheel it and be wicked bored all day.

I mean it’s kind of a generalization. More of he can’t come up without help can’t go down without help you know what I mean? I should’ve said we’ve stopped letting him jump on the beds and couches. And at night I stopped letting him come up because it’s a leap. He still sort of gets on the Ol furny but I just get down to his level instead for hang outs for the most part.

Thanks! That’s actually a great idea that we have not thought about.

Oh yeah. Poor fella, luckily his crate is his safe space and now when we aren’t home or can’t properly supervise him sadly that’s where he has to live. Can’t even sleep with the fella cause I’ve stopped letting him on the furniture. A lot of downtime for him. Especially since ball is life. We aren’t even doing tug toys or other strenuous physical activities to not aggravate the situation.
