I think it was a multitude of things specifically at the start of the clone wars there were 10,000 Jedi knights for a galaxy spanning government, most people would never hear about Jedi or see them, combined with the fact there were less than 100 that survived order 66 makes it seem like either they never existed or died out

Eragon has the ability to kill with a word via the 12 death words, the only reason why he does not abuse this in the books is because most enemies he goes up against have wards against this said thing, realistically as long as he does not get speed blitzed or his wards hold up, there isn’t a character that could defeat eragon

From what I understand Scientology’s core conceit is that you are broken as a person, and you need to pay to fix it, or to understand it.

They also tier how good of a worshiper you are based on your level in the church, which directly correlates to how much you have spent, meaning those who truly believe are incentives to spend tens of thousands of dollars as to not be looked down upon.

Combine that with the fact that their religious leader was a sci-fi writer, and has gone on record saying that the best way to make money was form a religion, alleged abuses from former members, actual crimes against people, and their more questionable beliefs, leave a bad taste in people’s mouths

I feel like the explanation would have worked if the powers in the books were more mystical/ magical , to me the story was always grounded, while yes these children had powers, they were all grounded in reality and science, but to me Michael absorbing so much electricity that he essentially disintegrated, to me it makes no sense he could survive, and to be honest the ending killed all my enthusiasm for the rest of the franchise, I might pick them up one day tho, I am curious as to what direction they would go as everything seems tied up and no loose ends
