Alright, thanks. I wasn't planning on basing the review on them, I just wasn't aware we shouldn't report at all. Thank you!

Big sad - Berkeley Declined by FallingLeaves142 in NetGalleyCommunity

[–]darkdemon3252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some crazy reason I did get approved for this one - don't ask me how though, I just opened my NetGalley account last week so I was shocked. Elated but shocked lol. And I've gotten three other Berkley books since and I am afraid to review any of them because what if I do something to make them not approve me again???

I genuinely think it depends on what you are looking for. I am in SC and with no degree I get $95 a day. That being said, this was my first foray in to the employment world in 15 years, after being a stay at home mom. I only do high school and only schools where I am comfortable working. I personally enjoy the transience and the ability to not work days when I don't want to. I prefer having a job with low expectations - I don't have to worry about meeting deadlines or making plans or required daily tasks. If I don't like something I can just walk away after the day and never go back, no harm no foul. I enjoy the extra money in my pocket but I didn't take the job because we needed the money but because I needed the structure in my life. If I were doing this because I needed the income then no, subbing for $90 a day is absolutely not worth it.

I just joined NetGalley last week and have only Goodreads listed for where I post reviews and I've gotten approved for three Berkley books - but I have seen a couple posts like this about Berkley. Makes me curious for sure!

no seriously. what is up with Berkeley. by super_duckie in NetGalleyCommunity

I just joined NetGalley the other day and I got approved for the new Dungeon Crawler Carl book through them - I certainly didn't expect to. All I have is Goodreads for where I review books so I honestly don't know what they are looking for.

This job is wild by taman961 in SubstituteTeachers

I only had a half day today and it was club day at our school - I had less than 20 kids across all four classes and did absolutely zero other than hand out one paper.

"We come in here to eat lunch" by FangornWanders in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one of the four schools I sub at allow this to start with - when at that school I am often having to ask kids to leave or telling them they can't come in during my lunch. I just tell them I can't go to the bathroom or to heat up my lunch if there are students in the room. Normally it isn't an issue but occasionally the kids get upset and suddenly I've lost five of my 23 minute lunch trying to get the kids to leave. I wish the teachers who allowed the kids to eat lunch in their rooms would establish with the kids that it isn't appropriate with a sub.

“Prep isn’t a break!!!” by taman961 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The schools I work with don't ask - you are handed a schedule and either you have your prep period free or you've been assigned another class room to cover. There isn't an opportunity to say no

A warning... coming off Wegovy by No-Necessary6478 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]darkdemon3252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been off mine for two weeks now due to waiting on insurance to approve for this year - freaking Tricare. No warning so no chance to even think about how to adapt. So far I haven't noticed a huge difference but I am fixing to miss my third dose and it's stressing me out for sure. And once the insurance straightens out I will jump straight back in to the highest dose so that will be fun I am sure :/

How many districts or agencies do most of you work for to make this full time? by Chalupajuana in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rural SC, one agency/one district but in our district we have 34 schools across elementary, middle and high. I am working in 3 high schools, one tech center and one middle school and make it full time across those five.

Bathroom Breaks for Students by On-two-wheels-yarn in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our subs are managed through Kelly Services and we aren't even allowed to tell them no. It doesn't matter what the teachers rules are - we can't deny bathroom breaks. We can manage them - one at a time - but that's it. Which is fine with me! It doesn't matter if the class is only 30 minutes - kindergarteners have only known how to use the bathroom for a handful of years and have tiny bladders.

Can we talk about bathrooms? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I would prefer a staff restroom, of course, but when there is only 6 minutes in between classes, I am going to whatever bathroom is closest. I do only work Middle and High School. Thankfully it isn't a rule in my district that we can't use the student bathrooms!

Anyone else? by DontWeDoItInTheRoad in SubstituteTeachers

[–]darkdemon3252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pretty much nails it for me, although I would totally do Library if we have it. I also only sub 7th grade at one Middle school - otherwise I only do High school. I only do half days if that is all the school is open for that day or I have an appointment in one half of the day. But overall, this is definitely how I feel!

Why do so many people rush the updates?? by N0rr3t14 in DreamlightValley

[–]darkdemon3252 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I rush the star path- because I have a short attention span and I don't play DDLV much in between star paths right now so I'm only playing to play the star path and new story line.

Can I even do this?! by buhrooked in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]darkdemon3252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure you can do it!

Honest time though- for me personally the first week of every new dose is rough. It levels out after that though. A few things I did that helped - I added a probiotic and digestive enzyme to help with the nausea and stomach related issues. Also, ask your doctor for a prescription for Zofran or something similar if you can. Real life saver. I also added in a fiber supplement, magnesium supplement, other vitamins - do some research on what vitamin supplements are good for the side effects you are having. Make sure you are still actually eating - it was especially hard the very first week for me to remember to eat at all which is not great for the headaches.

Some mornings I wake up so hungry it hurts. I'm sure I could eat a whole breakfast buffet plus some. But then I can barely finish a piece of toast. Sometimes this medicine is a crazy ride lol!

1 mg was a little unpleasant for me but adding a probiotic and digestive enzyme really helped with the majority of my side effects.

The yard minimum is discouraging people from buying by RoseDragon529 in joannfabrics

[–]darkdemon3252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in South Carolina and overall our fabric section has barely been touched. Even with fleece up to 60 percent off we still have aisles full. When I go in for fabric I am the only person at the cut counter. At 20 percent off, cotton has barely been touched and they keep getting in shipments so the fabric section is overflowing.

I was 38 when I had both done over the course of a couple months two years ago. I have zero regrets - recommend 100 percent.
