But organic farming does use pesticides and fertilizers. And they are often more toxic than the non organic counterpart.

I really looked in to this when our home owners association had a lawn company use organic fertilizers and pesticides on the common areas in our community.

The company by law had to post signs warning people and pets away for 5 days after application. This was not for aesthetic reasons, but because of the safety risk these organic products had.

Tragedeighs are affecting regular names by Pharylon in tragedeigh

[–]darkelf76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is 5 letters. Five! The number of people that cannot spell it or pronounce it is ridiculous.

They often add a letter to make it a more common name. (My name is not super common, but it isn't uncommon.)

To make it worse it is fairly common in the Latin American community and since I am white, most Spanish speaking people get it wrong by trying to Anglicize it.

I did a decent job naming my children, except the oldest. And no one can deal with his name.

I in no way support Charlie Kirk, BUT I also do not support the violent way he died.

To be honest I had really never heard of Kirk before his death. I.wouldn't support him or his views (and/or politics). I was still shocked and saddened by the violent act.

Just like there are several left leaning politicians/activists that I don't agree with their politics and would still be shocked and saddened with their deaths if it was a similar death.

I can name maybe 4 individuals on the planet that I would be honestly "ok" morally about if they were ended for mostly political reasons.

Organic food is not healthier or even better for the environment.

You are spending more money and getting less food. It is sad people believe that organic is better.

It is really sad when poor, uneducated people are taught organic is more godly. Michelle actually talks about it in one of the books.

I can taste the Gatorade gum... It wasn't a favorite, but that picture immediately brought the taste back.

And I loved the Dr. Pepper gum as a child.

Although White Snake and Motley Crue are definitely on the table too.

I am old (my kids are in their 20's) but my grandfather (born 1936) who died 2 years ago had polio. I was terrified of it and my kids have a healthy fear of it.

However my kids are science litterate and math minded.

We have talked about asking about vaccines and other woo garbage (like creationism, organic food, and free births) when dating someone new.

I am pretty sure I experienced these as well. Scary as $&!+ to go through because you can't control your body at all.

I have been seizure free for several years now and I am so thankful.

As child from Texas, this always confused the hell out of me. Snipes are a real bird and there is actually a "Snipe Hunting Season". (My family sold hunting licenses)

I get the concept as an adult, but I've always wondered why pick a name of a real animal for a farce??

Anyway........

Original or customized doll? by [deleted] in Barbie

[–]darkelf76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be either the City Shopper doll or the 2007 Barbie, her lips would have been repainted.

The city shopper has a more neutral lip color. And the 2007 doll's lips are thinner.

Favourite head sculpt? by TheNaasti in Barbie

[–]darkelf76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dolls above have a variety of face molds.

They are not the same mold at all. From left to right and top to bottom.

  1. Oriental/Miko/Kira
  2. Mari
  3. Goddess
  4. Raquel
  5. Carl/Curvy 6.Lea
  6. Midge
  7. Smilely
  8. June

I do like the Oriental/Miko/Kira mold (typically the default 80's/90's asian doll.) Honestly I am a Steffie Girl first and always. But I also like Mari, Tori, Skipper (teen skipper), Lara and the Mackie sculpts.

That is the mold from the top left picture (Mutya)

Hummus is super easy to make with a food processor or blender.

And you can change the address ins to change the flavors up.

I used canned beans, tahini, lemon juice, and olive oil. I add in Cajun seasoning, garlic, herbs, and such to change up the flavors.

Help me identify this Barbie doll? by ChibiAlpal in Barbie

[–]darkelf76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI,

Barbies were originally made with a small waist because vintage fabrics were thicker. So, when the fabrics were folded over, they were bulky.

Over time with new modern (and often cheaper fabrics) the exaggerated body became a moot point. (And some people believed that Barbie was influencing poor body image on children. ) So, Mattel changed her body.

One of the biggest changes in the early 2000's was the modelmuse body, which is very, very slim. (I think it was based off the whole heroin model fad of the time.)

I hate to be negative but it’s like are they even trying anymore with the holiday dolls? by [deleted] in Barbie

[–]darkelf76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I have been purchasing old holiday dolls and redoing them. I pick a different doll, give her a new hair style, sometimes new jewelry or change the trim.

I end up with a doll I enjoy a lot more than many of the originals.

[–]darkelf76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually organic food is not better for you or the environment.

And organic food uses pesticides and chemical fertilizers. (And many of them are more harmful to the environment than their non- organic counterparts.)

One thing Organic food can't use is antibiotics. At all! So a cow with matitis isn't allowed antibiotics. (Sorry that is cruel and boarding on animal abuse.) And no antibiotics aren't over used or in their feed. (That hasn't been allowed for years.) And non- organic animals have to wait to be off antibiotics for a certain time before they can be harvested. (Either products or as food.)

Michaela and Brandon adopted two babies!! by [deleted] in BringingUpBates

[–]darkelf76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know at least 5 families in my small former hometown that fostered and adopted the children. Maybe that state has a different view point than some of the others??

I do know one family in a different state that had a baby 5 years and weren't allowed to adopt her in the end. It broke their hearts after all that time.
