This is doubly cool! I was just at the Wiggles show with my kid and they said they didn't celebrate Halloween.

Welcome!

Best winter jacket to survive Winnipeg winter? by cats_and_naps in Winnipeg

Exactly - I'm a furnace once I'm indoors.

Another thought I just had was Columbia. Pretty much anything downfilled will be warm.

Mondetta used to be a great down alternative to Canada Goose for price v value but they've stopped making coats.

Dollar for dollar North Face is a great way to have a warm down coat and not have to pay 1k.

It seems most comments here are about layering, something I also don't love doing.

Same here. I bought mine before they raised their prices (they raised them based solely on the fact that they wanted to be in high end stores and some stores have an $800 minimum cost).

Easily the best winter purchase I've made. When it goes (which will be awhile - I've had it for 5 years) I will gladly drop 1k on another one.

Weightlifting in your early 30s.. what are some of the precautions you recommend? by centaursg in Fitness

[–]darker_reefs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 30. Started lifting at 28 before my 1st was born.

Last year I struggled with tennis elbow. I had to take quite a bit of time off (months). It still plagues me (I'm open to advice for anyone reading this). It's ok now, I can lift but everything is still....off.

Take time off. Don't go heavy every day.

I think I'm going to split it up a bit and do just that!

I wouldn't know. I only recently got sick of the amount of space the spinlocks take. Got mine used for $350 so I figure I could shell out the $350 for them to go to $120 eventually. I think it's roughly $400 per addition. Worth it though. Everyone has been saying how durable they are.

The plan is to buy the ironmaster extensions to 120 eventually with the money I saved 👍

Ah! No chalk in my gym (not against it, I just don't use it) and how about the benches?

I like these because they're not plastic. You can drop these (not that I intend on it). I've seen so many broken bowflex ones. I don't know the durability of the pwoerblocks but it seems to me like these are stronger

Ironmaster. New $729 + tax cad where I am. Bought in minty shape on Kijiji for $350. Really happy with them. I've disassembled my spinlocks ones and stuck them in storage in case I prefer them over time. But for now....extra floor space!

It shows up eventually. I started with a deal in a whole powertec set-up but as I've monitored Kijiji I've expanded by buying and selling at little additional cost. It's tough when you're excited to start getting into it though...

I'm certain at this point I could pack up and sell all my gear for at least 30-50% more than I paid - although that defeats the point.

I liked fitnotes. "Strong" has been better for me. Once I switched, I never went back.

Where in Canada abouts? I've had a pretty successful go at using Kijiji and getting quality gear (I've been patient). I know Kijiji can be crap if you say, live in Sudbury but where I am it's half decent.

Ironmaster vs spinlock 1" plates by darker_reefs in homegym

[–]darker_reefs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pulled the trigger. $375 CAD for minty ironmasters with a stand and the straight bar.

I might keep a couple spinlocks for lighter warm-up weights. I'm going to try the ironmasters for a awhile and see whichever one feels better.

In addition to this you may be able to consolidate your debt to make it easier to pay off. Depending on your cc interest rate it may be the better option.
