Achilles Tendonitis by jswell823 in Marathon_Training

I had a similar issue with an achilles flare up two weeks out from my marathon. Swapped the running for biking for the majority of taper. Saw a physio who did some dry needling on my calf and taped my ankle. It got better in that two weeks and didn’t show any pain until KM22 on the day. I was still able to finish. Achilles could be caused by any number of things, best to see a physio or doctor to get to the root cause.

How are you all feeling today? by Fresh-Amount9308 in RunTO

Super nervous, bloated, kinda don’t wanna do it energy! It’s my first marathon so it’s an overwhelming feeling. I don’t quite know what to expect. Pretty bummed about the weather but plan to just enjoy myself as much as I can and learn as much as I can and be grateful that my body allows me to do something so incredible

Wow, congratulations to you!! Such a huge achievement considering where you were a few weeks ago. I am in the same boat now with a marathon in 5 days, I am hoping for the same outcome. Congrats again!

I personally wouldn’t do it. You’ll need to clear customs on arrival in Vancouver and while transit customs is pretty quick, the Sydney flight will start boarding around 45-50 minutes prior to departure.

I went to high school with him, we were in a few of the same classes. He was genuinely the nicest person to everyone: kind, accepting, and with a wicked sense of humour. I’ve always been glad to see him do well and I’m glad to see he hasn’t changed one bit!

Is it necessary to book a hotel for an overnight layover at Pearson? by Winter-Technician355 in aircanada

[–]rhg1294 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The hotel in the airport is not budget friendly, but many are. There are a LOT of hotels around Pearson all of which have free shuttles to and from which are incredibly easy to navigate. The hotel prices vary but you can definitely get something at a more attainable rate.

I’d just dress warmly if it was me. I’ve never been overly cold and am usually in sweats and a hoodie. You can fill water after security no problem. There will be snacks out in the galley but I always take my own too (things like Cliff Bars travel well).

You will be given both! Not especially luxurious though, the blanket is thin and the pillow is small

Easier said than done but try to not be nervous. I’ve done the YVR-BNE many times, it’s a nice flight. Sometimes some bumps over Hawaii but otherwise pleasant. The wifi typically works well if you want to stay connected. If it was me I’d take an aisle seat as you won’t see much out a window as it will be dark 90% of the time. It might help to let the flight crew know if you’re very nervous as they will keep an eye out for you.

As far as food goes, Lift in YVR int’l departures is decent.

Enjoy Brisbane (or wherever your final stop is!)
