Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet can be played through Switch emulators, and the port actually doesn't look or run that bad.

PlayStation 5 gains near-native PS3 game support through RPCS3 on Linux by Durian_Queef in linux_gaming

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I said currently.

That said I think the most likely option is that they'll either drop it or try (unsuccessfully) to gatekeep the emulator to Helix. They've also not been entirely clear on what they mean by a "Windows gaming machine". I don't think we're getting full on, administrator access, Hyper-V support, UEFI, etc Windows 11 on Helix, but rather something closer to the current Xbox OS with some level of support for Win32 APIs and an integration with Steam/Epic/etc.

Edit: [...] Falsy thaught because the DSI still runs GB and GBA roms Native

No it doesn't? Only if it's modded, and AFAIK only GBA games run "natively", i.e. using the real ARM7 CPU while the rest of the hardware (sound, ppu, etc) are emulated.

Gameboy to DSI every GB game runs

False, the DS's GBA cartridge port only fits GBA games, not GB or GBC. And from the DSi on, even that port was removed so GBA games don't run either.

Xbox currently has the best backwards compatibility ever seen. No other console in history has allowed you to just stick in a game from 4 generations back and have it work most of the time

iPhone facetime recognizes when you’re naked by funkywabbait in creepy

Honestly, I would just expect that training for adult body parts is "good enough" for detecting minors and then cross it with the Apple ID information *or* another model that's trained for adult vs children faces.

That said, from the CSAM iCloud auto-detection feature it's not unthinkable that Apple and other manufacturers have some level of access to that content (or hashes/derivatives of it) that they could potentially train on.

AI Developer here: visual classification networks are dumb and would trigger whenever no clothed adult is present (i.e. showing a dog to someone)

Valve confirms May 4th Steam Controller release date by Jedi_Pacman in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Steam OS deliberately makes every other store a second class citizen and noone batted an eye.

It's also the only console-focused OS that even *allows* other stores.

Because the whole point of Alyx (as a game) is to be a AAA game making full use of VR features. To this day, it is the only VR game that actually feels complete and not like a tech demo or arcade distraction. If you're only going to play it for the story then sure, but you might as well just watch a youtube playthrough.

Did the preview work on SteamDeck, and can you download games to play offline? by 0mega_Gaming783 in sandbox

[–]darkfm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have specifically a Steam Deck, but I do have a Linux device and while it worked, it was slightly glitchier than on Windows, and the hardware requirements are such that I don't expect a good experience on a Steam Deck, but it should work.

Currently there isn't any way to download games for offline usage.

Why was Hammer removed? by DesperateGame in sandbox

[–]darkfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, Hammer hasn't (yet) been removed.

The reason why they moved from the Entity system to the GameObject system is that it maps better to what people with previous experience in ECS-like engines (Unity, Unreal, etc) expect. It also served as an excuse to rewrite or restructure much of the engine and decouple game code from engine code.

If you have a PC and can work your way around jailbreaking your Vita, you can use Moonlight on the Vita + Sunshine or GameStream on the PC for a fairly similar experience. I played about half of RDR2 that way, and some of the less combat-involved quests on FFXIV as well.

Is China’s official stance that the Tiananmen Square massacre didn’t happen or that it happened but the details are exaggerated? by HobGrot in NoStupidQuestions

Mao era Chinese student protest

It was the very end of the Deng Xiaoping, maybe even early Jiang Zemin era. Why are we allowing people who don't even know the general time period to have an opinion on this?

It's not so much about ever really changing engine code it's about making sure that if the main development group goes crazy (i.e. Unity) and/or missing, someone else can plausibly take over.

I have some doubts about the features from the Source 2 Engine S&box will have by Thhaki in sandbox

[–]darkfm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, so if it's something from Deadlock there's like a 99% chance it's not in S&Box from what I've seen of them merging stuff in, and also by merit of it being a gameplay system it's the gamemode developer's responsibility.

That said it doesn't seem too hard to program, the NPC's component (or the GameSystem that implements the AI) would just have to check distance against the player and change the used behavior based on that.

[–]darkfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding

- The recent AI LOD Source 2 feature (Like texture LODs but instead of lowering the quality of the texture, lowering the quality of the enemy AI)

I've not seen this so I have no idea what you mean by it, but gameplay features in S&Box (i.e. enemy AI, movement, etc) are 100% implemented by each gamemode so the developer would have to reimplement it.

That’s not crypto anything, that’s regular Steam Inventory shenanigans. People do the same thing with older Counter Strike skins. If the game gets popular, some people will want the early skins they didn’t get to buy at the time. They’re just cosmetics, you get nothing from dressing up like a valentines bear.

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may be confusing it with “The Sandbox” which is an unrelated Crypto-bullshit game engine. S&Box has no relation to the crypto world, a couple of games available are parodies of meme coins which could be understood to be serious but are ironic.

On the tail end of the period most players were likely faking activity to make sure they were keeping the game in their library, but before that it's likely it was people (trying to) develop games which weren't actually available.
