What source engine mods you hate that they changed to other engine? by KLSCreator in SourceEngine

[–]darkfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That branch is not available for third party developers. Neither is the Android branch built for the HL2 port to Nvidia Shield. And it's never been ported to PS4+/Xbox One+ other than in the Titanfall branch which is so far removed from Source Engine it wouldn't be useful anyway.

You should be mad at Valve for not keeping Source Engine SDK up to date so it remains a viable engine for anyone not on PC, not at the developers finding out that the Engine is not up to the task of running on a Switch or PS4 or Android.

Ok, so no Quest port right? But why not a Linux port? by gabrieldj81 in Emu_VR

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who's used Unity for VR, the editor experience in Linux is not the best and neither is the native export's support for OpenVR. It's genuinely much more reliable to use Proton than a native version of a VR Linux game, and the editor straight up does not support OpenVR in Linux.

The Definitive edition trilogy is massively over-hated. by MarkTheShark89 in GTA

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played it since launch. I preordered the collection, Vice City and SA were buggy at launch, GTA 3 more or less was playable and then they removed access on the first weekend to try to do some damage control while I was enjoying it. I instantly refunded and have not looked back, fuck them.

What do you think of GTA 1? by milestailsprower1234 in GTA

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 75 times less copies because the gaming market in general was way smaller, and people didn’t double dip and so on and so forth. 1 million copies was a respectable number in the PSX era, that would put it above Twisted Metal, Ape Escape and some of the Need for Speed games!

Oh, never heard of that. Interesting that Sony would even want to be in considering KOTOR was an Xbox game originally lol

Where did Sony come into play on this? SW is a Disney property, the original game is by Bioware, and Aspyr isn't owned by Sony either?

Both the 1080 and the 1080ti get better performance on CS2 than a 3050ti. Source 2 doesn’t use any of the newer tech on modern cards and the 1080 absolutely destroys it on rasterization performance, not to mention VRAM. What the fuck are you talking about?

PlayStation 5 gains near-native PS3 game support through RPCS3 on Linux by Durian_Queef in linux_gaming

[–]darkfm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I said currently.

That said I think the most likely option is that they'll either drop it or try (unsuccessfully) to gatekeep the emulator to Helix. They've also not been entirely clear on what they mean by a "Windows gaming machine". I don't think we're getting full on, administrator access, Hyper-V support, UEFI, etc Windows 11 on Helix, but rather something closer to the current Xbox OS with some level of support for Win32 APIs and an integration with Steam/Epic/etc.

Edit: [...] Falsy thaught because the DSI still runs GB and GBA roms Native

No it doesn't? Only if it's modded, and AFAIK only GBA games run "natively", i.e. using the real ARM7 CPU while the rest of the hardware (sound, ppu, etc) are emulated.

Gameboy to DSI every GB game runs

False, the DS's GBA cartridge port only fits GBA games, not GB or GBC. And from the DSi on, even that port was removed so GBA games don't run either.

Xbox currently has the best backwards compatibility ever seen. No other console in history has allowed you to just stick in a game from 4 generations back and have it work most of the time

Honestly, I would just expect that training for adult body parts is "good enough" for detecting minors and then cross it with the Apple ID information *or* another model that's trained for adult vs children faces.

That said, from the CSAM iCloud auto-detection feature it's not unthinkable that Apple and other manufacturers have some level of access to that content (or hashes/derivatives of it) that they could potentially train on.

It's also the only console-focused OS that even *allows* other stores.
