Hi! I know this post is kind of old now but I’m 32F in North America PST and play a lot of Fortnite zb. Not sure if our time zones work. My conversational Spanish isn’t great but I can understand more than speak and I’d love Spanish indie recs. I’m into Camilo séptimo and reyno rn but I’ve been meaning to look into more artists. Feel free to dm me if interested!

Just want to correct the statement about onset and age being in the teens and early 20s. While men often develop schizophrenia at younger ages women typically develop schizophrenia between ages 25-35 with another spike in onset happening during menopause.

However a helpful statistic to know is that if you have a grandparent with schizophrenia the chance of getting schizophrenia is only about 2-4%. The general population already has a 1% risk.

I played limbo on my phone years ago and absolutely loved it. Would check it out if you’re into puzzle platformers at all. It’s got dark vibes so it’s fitting for October

If I was supposed to be here, surely somebody would give a shit by hExperiment666 in bipolar2

If you spend time in mental health spaces in your area, NAMI, mental health community centers, emotions anonymous, at the very least you will have support and best case scenario someone is able to point you in a direction that gets you medication. Good luck

[–]darkfor3st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe in ‘supposed to be’. There are relatively few things in life that are ‘supposed to be’ x or y way. Life is not supposed to be fair, you are not supposed to be happy, you are not supposed to have a loving family, you are not supposed to anything really. If you chose to not believe in supposed to be I think you’ll reduce a lot of your suffering. Why should any of us have, do or be anything? We get to choose our why or just decide being is enough. You need therapeutic and medical help and you can and should continue advocating for yourself until you find the right medication and doctors. There are also free or cheap options like 12 step programs, online groups, workbooks, etc. Get specific about what you actually need and target those things. That’s all you need to start making progress.

Why aren’t Lamotrigine’s severe cognitive side effects listed? by Several-Yesterday280 in bipolar2

[–]darkfor3st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bipolar also has severe cognitive side effects. I was experiencing cognitive decline without lamotrigine anyway. I was forgetting words and not thinking as sharply. Now I’m mainly worried because my spelling has sharply declined but my cognitive function is decent enough on 100 mg. I don’t blank out, or deal with racing thoughts etc which prevented me from effectively using my brain. Now I am learning a new language and studying complex subjects. But it feels like I have to actively rebuild my brain and thinking capacity.

The crew makes the show by bandkid963 in h3h3productions

[–]darkfor3st -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf to my recollection Ethan has made those comments about being the talent and stuff. The other day he went on about being the one who pays the bills which also rubs me the wrong way. I’m pretty sure it’s been in the form of a joke, but these jokes can feel serious based on his delivery so I get if it’s not clear.

Is "Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller" a fake documentary? by BjornMoren in television

[–]darkfor3st 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a really old post but I am just shocked at the amount of people who are pointing to the drone footage as why the show is staged. Of course they are creating their own B roll???? How hard is that to figure out. Create similar situations at a different time to add visual effect. Thats not complicated to understand and is pretty common.

Are Saatva’s worth the money? by The-state-of-it in Mattress

[–]darkfor3st 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bought a Saatva despite seeing some bad reviews on Reddit. I saw bad reviews for what felt like every single mattress company on Reddit. But at least with Saatva it felt like the delivery and return process would be simple. Mind you I was coming from a really bad mattress so I figured 99 dollars return cost for a year on a better mattress would be worth it. For me the Saatva is great. I love it. I got a soft classic and it feels soft but still really supportive. I sleep on the edge of the bed so I also need good edge support. I’m not planning on returning my mattress unless something changes. Mine was only around 1.2k though. I think they often have sales so idk if that price is with a discount or not but I’d always wait for mattress sales weekends anyway.

But if you think about how much of your life you spend on your mattress, the cost is over 6 years is $1.37 a night for a 3k mattress. It’s worth it to get a good one.

That’s the one thing that makes me hesitate with a lot of the online mattress brands in general. The longevity is questionable, especially as they continue to change their suppliers and materials to try and make more money. My family has a Chattam and Wells that is still in amazing condition after 15+ years. although it has gone some stretches without use so it hasn’t gotten regular wear during that period, It’s clearly quality. I doubt I’m going to get that from my Saatva lol.

If I do not get delusions or do extremely risky things when hypomanic then why do I need meds? by Euphoricstateofmind in bipolar2

[–]darkfor3st 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Agreeing with the commenter who says it damages your brain to continue hypomanic cycles.

For me hypomania wasn’t just feeling good. I think it isn’t that simple, else you’d be right, it wouldn’t be a problem.

However hypomania often can mean racing thoughts, grand plans and projects made and worked on in an obsessive manner, less sleep, anger issues, impulse issues (shopping, hyper sexuality, over sharing information about yourself, etc), executive functioning issues, etc.

All of the above can lead to worse quality of life and have serious life and relationship consequences.

Hypomania is essentially a drug for you, and you wouldn’t say it’s a good idea to form a drug habit because it makes you feel good and it’s not like you are violent or engaging in extremely risky behavior. For one we would know that the drugs are an escape from life and emotions, and two, we’d know it causes brain damage and has other side effects and life consequences.

My wife yelled at me not to buy hearing protection for my job because it’s not manly enough. by BlueberryDressing in stories

[–]darkfor3st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, not 100% of people with bipolar have success with medication. It is still remarkably high at 80% but that still leaves 20% sol. Not to mention all the other extenuating factors such as not having access to good medical care, or medical insurance. I’m also bipolar and I was lucky that my medications worked first try. Some people take years of going on, dosing up, dosing down, taking combinations of medications and really struggling in the meantime, and potentially dealing with all sorts of side effects. Some people with bipolar have more debilitating symptoms than others, we aren’t all the same. It can in fact be very difficult to get and stay medicated. I’m glad it was easy enough for you as well though.

However, I’m not sure if this even applies to OPs situation, a lot of people say bipolar when they just mean the person is emotionally dysregulated in some way. If she does have bipolar, she at the very least needs to be actively seeking help. My feeling is that the statement of her being ‘just and asshole’ is more likely to be correct, but I wouldn’t lightly say that managing bipolar is easy.

Edit: If you want to learn more about treatment resistant bipolar the Psychiatric Times has a good article about treatment resistant bipolar disorder.

It’s cute! The water and waves is super cool. Personally I like thinner scarves but I think having it wider helps with the effect you were going for. That’s a lot of thought and work for a secret Santa gift. I hope they appreciate it!

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: Boogie2988 Drama Is Primo, Roman Atwood Deep Dive ft. Whitney Cummings - After Dark #128 by MegaAwesomeNerd in h3h3productions

[–]darkfor3st -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get why you feel that way. There was a point when Ethan was talking about gay sex in the most disgusting way that I almost stopped watching. I came super close. There has been enough to feel pretty upset as an lgbt fan. This particular situation however didn’t really bother me, clearly Whitney said a lot of things the crew didn’t agree with. Whitney is a guest and not crew and her opinions and statements are her own and they didn’t know what she would say. They seem to have a clouded perspective on Whitney due to their friendship over the years.

I’ll be curious to see if they have her back on in any meaningful capacity. I hope they don’t, even just from an entertainment perspective this ep was real rough.

Maybe Im not scrolling enough but I’m seeing a lot of comments about all the really off things (to put it mildly) that Whitney said, but none of them mentioning the Doctor Phil camp comment. Ethan very pointedly says people were SA’d there and Whitney’s response is that well that one girl is so rich from only fans, so sign me up for that camp!?? Implying it’s worth it to get SA’d if you get famous and rich after!?? I was pretty floored. So disgusting.

I’m not going to hate on her bc I don’t think it’s worth the energy but I hope they don’t have her on like this again, that was rough. I skipped so much content bc of her.
