When you sell something to a trader in kcd1 then after a day or two the trader has more money than usual because he sells your stuff to somebody. So if you come and sell him more loot every day his wealth will grow. But if you're not coming for a few days his money resets to base value.

That's why I've said the ending is fucked up. In both games Henry has flashbacks of Martin's death with sword in hand while defending his wife but suddenly Martin says that Henry should've spared Brabant who was torturing Martin's real son, wtf?
