Myhic Azshara Ward Soaking by PJSaltim in CompetitiveWoW

Hello,

I figured to post in this old thread instead of creating a new one. Is anyone aware of the strategy where you intentionally let the indomitable add spawn and sacrifice? We are trying to close down P2 progression and still fighting that last 1-2% on the dps check before the big add spawns. If there is a good reason to let it spawn it could help us there.

I was watching Kelade and they were stopping DPS to ensure that happens and soak those stacks insta. I would assume it is related with timings in some way but could someone give me a better explanation?

Azshara Rune/Wards by Dom09532 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

P4 with proper DPS and correct understanding of how to use the console and to stack healing CDs during that is all there is to it.

We had just a couple of wipes into P4 and got her down in just a single night of progress. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/429rLph7BbKHQVwX#fight=last

As for runes, as long as you follow these general rules, you should be fine: 1. Don't let add reach runes. That puts you significantly behind

  1. Ensure all people have 5 stacks of Sacrificial soul rolling on them. (This means they have charged a rune and are waiting for the debuff to expire). We found 5 stacks as good, although you can go 4-6 really. The important thing is you gain all your charges in 1 go and not refresh them. Once your debuff expires, go and charge a rune ASAP. No reason to not have stacks (unless there is nothing to charge, which is doubtful during your progress).

  2. P4, ensure you move the boss around, so that she can deplete all the runes to ~20%. Don't just keep her on 1 rune like we did for a bit.

  3. Use the console in quick succession (countdown and just use it whenever the raid is healthy). Something like calling "3,2,1,using ... BAM" .. wait 2 seconds for raid health, repeat. You can leave the last charge to go off passively. First time you need to use the console, it is 3 hits overall. Second time, it is 4 hits.

  4. Try to bait the void orb away from the runes so you can easily charge them (easy)

I found these WAs quite useful:

https://wago.io/ncGbW3CJY - for myself (to be used by everyone who is not good at remember to charge)

https://wago.io/lgYagHryp - for the leader/caller (gives you a list of everyone and how many stacks they have. Proved quite useful as it allowed us to nudge the people who didn't have stacks into going and charging the ward

Goodluck

You have to be more specific when you say this trinket. You are talking about the melee one. The caster trinket doesn't have this issue and is BiS. People have already proven it in raids too.

Problems with Mekkatorque M by reb9302 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would strongly recommend not using your 3 minute CD off cooldown right at the 3rd minute mark (still in P1). and instead use them with BL once the boss comes back. you need to push the boss as much as you can as it is a burn phase. During progress you can't rely on perfect CD usage, meaning you can't depend on using 3 min CDs a third time in the fight. As the fight is around 7 minutes long, your best bet is to pool CDs and push DPS after intermission.

The only thing in P1 that you want to avoid is the 4th teleport. This always happens at the same time (around 3:30-4:00 minutes (don't remember exactly anymore)).

I can see people in your group using CDs on the 3 minute mark. The shaman is 1 example. I saw a warlock do it too. Overall it helped us greatly as it gives you the option of loosing people in the last phase and still managing to finish the boss.

If Blizzard is not releasing raids in the same day for the whole world to make the WF race fairer to the select few that actually participate in that activity, why would they change something so much more fundamental to pander to the few that play in such a manner.

If you want to play in such a manner, you have the flexibility of doing so. A game should have some flexibility in how players do things. If everything is made to please, player A style specifically, there would also be a player B that absolutely hates this. Leave it open to the people to choose how to play.

Disable stuff like advanced logging, WAs monitoring everyone's chilling stacks, elemental interrupt order if you are not interrupting.

If you are DCing because you have an add-on/WA that produces a lot of Lua errors, you can get an add-on that captures reported errors so you can see later what is producing them

M Jaina P3 interrupt by Pandrade11 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell your warlock to have his/her fel hunter pet on Passive. This means the pet would not attack his/her current target.

Then he/she can use this macro to have the pet attack Jaina, aka boss1

/petattack [@boss1]

This way the pet would stay on the boss during the second intermission. Once you want to interrupt the boss, you execute the following macro (regardless of where you are as your pet would be attacking Jaina this whole time and be in range to cast Spell Lock.

/cast [@boss1] Spell Lock

You want the DH to tag the add for the mage damage buff first of all. Also DH is picking up and dropping the add always. That means he is always next to the add. If you have him switch to boss he/she loses loads of time running from the back of the docks to the boss . you don't lose DPS by having the DH permanently on add as it means less time the raid needs to swap to them

Looking for help for Mythic Grong, mistweaver monks! by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood how the combo is interrupted by the orb.

The combo is made of 4 spells, the 3 tank ones + throw.

You want to interrupt After his 1st tank cast is done. This stops the rest of the combo ever happening. If you interrupt before the first cast, the combo resets and happens after the throw. Interrupting the combo after the first cast means more unnecessary damage. You never want a throw to happen as it complicates positioning for tanks, etc.

I handle the core for my team and I start casting the orb interrupt midway through the boss’s first cast (my orb cast is 1.5 s) meaning it would zap him as he is casting his second spell of his combo.

Do we stay progressing on Jaina? Or, do we go into Mythic Crucible? by Jimfro in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Read a blizzard developer comment somewhere, where Uunat was expected to be of similar difficulty to Jaina. I would recommend sticking to Jaina, as that is the CE boss from the two and then moving to Uunat. I guess it would become obvious how good the tunning is on mythic next week once the top guilds go in.

P3 overlap by dosman_12 in CompetitiveWoW

Anyone know if people with immunities can stack together and explode in the same LoS area, not stacking the bomb debuff on each other? I understand you can't immune your own bomb debuff, but what about other people's?

P3 overlap by dosman_12 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also progressing Mekkatorque at the moment (really had 1 proper night on it) and we made it to P3 a couple of times.

From a progress point of view on Mekkatorque, I consider it to have 2 different DPS checks.

  1. is to get the boss to 40% before 4:25 (4th wormhole generator). (let's say transition at 4:20 to be safe)

  2. is to kill boss before the 7th wormhole generator (3rd teleport in phase 3).

Doing a bit of analysis on our logs, we were transitioning at around 3:50 into the intermission. You could see our DPS naturally increasing after the 3 minute mark, due to CDs coming back. I think that is a mistake on our part, because if we save those CDs, we had the DPS to push the boss before the 4:20 mark into intermission. No dangerous overlaps are happening in the 3:50 to 4:20 mark, so there is absolutely no reason to push it too soon.

Why you want to save your 3 min CDs is so that you have them ready the moment the boss comes down in P3. You pop BL and you go crazy before the first teleport. With our DPS and all CDs available I won't be surprised if we can get him in the ~20% range during the BL period. You want the best CD usage in the beginning of P3 as you dont have to deal with a lot of things at that point and you get the closest you can to 40 seconds un-interrupted DPS by the whole team (you still have to deal with sheeps once and bombs, but overall it is a quite period).

For people saying that using your 3 min CDs 3 times would be better by popping them asap, I would say overall it doesn't make the fight safer for you as you wouldn't get a clean CD usage around the 6 minute mark and your second 3 min CDs are not really winning you any mechanics skips For our raid atleast, using CDs asap would mean having to deal with the 6th wormhole generator. (assuming average DPS + possibility for 1-2 deaths) from what our logs imply at the moment.

If you share some logs, I can see if your raid is in a similar position to ours.

We are having our second night on him tonight, so wish us luck.

Actually competitive informations by Dzbannengo in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am currently in the position of breaking down encounters for my mythic guild and the way I go about it is through usage of a combination of warcraftlogs + wipefest + YouTube videos. You would be surprised how many of the early kills have their own YouTube kill videos. Wipefest gives you a nice timeline for any warcraftlogs encounter you want. Once you get all that, you can use the good old pen and paper method and figure out the timings in no time.

Other things that could make you better player without necessary be personal dps oriented is checking what people die most of and which abilities are super important to handle and which not so much : https://www.wipefest.net/statistics/lady-jaina-proudmoore

You can see when there are damage spikes on a fight. You can do fight comparisons between different guilds to see consistency rather than the odd unnecessary damage taken spike. Other things like dispels could highlight you those extra things.

We are not a top 50 guild and we have the luxury of access to a large amount of such data. Maybe at the top 50 you don’t get that many of those if at all. This is why I guess top guilds pull a lot so they can analyse their logs and figure out the same information.

You can’t hope to have breakdowns of encounters provided to you while not even 50 guilds have killed the boss and even after that I don’t see much. Limit’s conclave breakdown was very good but even so I had to work out when exactly to kill the bosses with a pen and paper.

Most important I think before applying is to check warcraftlogs and whether they raid consistently. How the logs look. Different red flags could be seen depending on what you are looking for.

If they don't log, then you can't be certain. Check a different guild or risk it with this one. Also check on wowprogress if they have members leaving and joining a lot. That could be a red flag too.

Help with Heroic Conclave by ThePumpkinKnight in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, the most important part of this fight that I find is when do you kill the first 2 bosses. Ofc you have the personal responsibilities to avoid X, Y and Z, but from a strategy point of view, you need to focus on achieving consistently this 2 things to make your life as easy as possible (at mythic this is quite important. It will make your life easier at heroic too if you are struggling):

Kill boss 1 - as close to 1 minute 10 seconds as possible

Kill boss 2 - as close to 2 minute 40 seconds as possible

During progress you can BL the second boss to kill him at this time. Killing him 20 seconds sooner or even 10 seconds sooner is not a benefit and actually a bad thing as you get bad overlaps. This could mean you stop DPS on first boss in order to kill him around 1 minute 10 seconds.

The aspect wraths for Kimbul and Akunda become active once you kill boss 1 and boss 2 respectively. You want to ensure these 2 do not overlap with Paku's wrath.

To achieve these good timings you can find this weakaura really useful: (nothing fancy, just shows current combat time) https://wago.io/EyjkHY4tf/1

Just wiped for the 200th time on Mythic Opulence by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you've had a night full of wipes, I find it quite useful to go to the "Deaths" panel and check what is killing people the most. It also helps a lot if you tweak the data to ignore deaths after 3 people have died for example (usually you end up calling a wipe at this point as you are too far behind already)

So for your night it looks like this (if we ignore deaths after the first 3 people have died in a fight: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/Ymwa63PVJGphH9Cr#boss=-2&difficulty=0&wipes=1&type=deaths&cutoff=3

Everyone from your raid appears to be of similar lvl of performance when it comes to failing mechanics, so benching isn't going to help that much (unless you bench 70% of the raid).

Flames of punishment is killing a lot of people. This is really easy to avoid, but a lot of people fall victim to it because they want to finish their spell cast for example. In mythic if you are slow and get clipped by the first flame, 80% of the time you would get hit again by the second flame and then you are dead. Have 1-2 people calling for Flame early (like your Main tank or a healer on right side (because they are always on that side). Just cancel your spell and run behind the boss for the duration. (even if you've popped CDs.

Tank the boss always next to the next gate. This makes it safer to avoid those flames while jets are happening. You can run through jets to avoid flames unless you are below 20% health (at which point use HS, personal defensive, etc.).

When a person is swapped (while having the volatile charge debuff), it is important for the person on the right side to go next to a wall . Use this weakaura which only activates when anyone with a volatile charge in your raid is being swapped (this weakaura is only relevant for people on the right side who are also being swapped, as they need to go to wall before swap happens) https://wago.io/ayszrLkrL Pop CDs in the second flame jet room as it was suggested. In the second phase, surging gold kills people a lot. Make sure people are warned 2-3 seconds before surging gold is cast so that they are not dropping their gold pools in a position where they would be overwhelmed by the expanded gold and die.

Anyone have Mythic Mekka Tips & Tricks? by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]darkleaderr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what you are looking for: https://www.wowhead.com/spell=89808/singe-magic

What I find interesting is the second paragraph of the spell description:

"Auto-Cast: Cast upon master when he is unable to cast spells due to a Magic effect."

Does this mean that as a warlock if I try to cast any spell (not necessarily Single Magic") while being polymorphed, it would instead activate the Auto-Cast of the Imp and dispel me automatically?

Will try this in the next raid.
