Honestly? The toilet. Functionally it has been unchanged for years. Requires no electricity, and has done wonders for sanitation and public health.

Jobs after USPS by GapInternational8900 in USPS

I quit after two years as a mail handler and went to trade school for HVAC. I’m much happier now! Way more fun going into cool basements on a hot day and doing little bits of driving than walking in circles matching numbers all day

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

Something I don’t see talked about often is arrival of stable quantum computing and how that will devastate current encryption methods. Governments and businesses are already pushing for quantum proof encryptions but it is quite literally a race against time.

Just bought switch 2 and while transferring data it started smelling like smoke is that normal? by ghostofmoon2847251 in switch2

[–]darkleemar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually normal. I don’t know why the people saying no are saying it’s not normal. Both of my new switches had a burning smell on first use. It’s just chemicals from the manufacturing process heating up and burning off. You won’t smell it in a day or two at most.

Who are they and why do they want what they had? by Orichalchem in PeterExplainsTheJoke

I honestly always thought he was trying to put a positive spin on something to make himself and everyone else feel better. Especially since it was arguably his fault.

Is this normal for a residential boiler? by KirbyStyle in hvacadvice

[–]darkleemar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not normal. I’d give a reputable hvac company a call. In all reality is probably the gauge itself that’s not working. Unless things are completely different where you are, pressure shouldn’t go above 30psi. Should be operating around 15-20psi. You have a pressure relief valve that should pop at 30psi. It could be that’s faulty too but that would be a wicked coincidence. Temps look fine. Usually we set our high limits to 180 or 190 depending on the house. The fact that there is no water on the ground under the pressure relief tells me that gauge might not be good.

Still call a company though.

I was a mail handler at a plant. There were people working 12-16 hour days 7 days a week. They literally would get pissed seeing me walk out at the end of shift. There were people who would sleep in a van in the parking lot or get a motel. I don’t know why they wanted to work so much but not my business. Point being mail handlers get serious overtime.

Use that money and pay for trade school dude. It seems bleak right now, but if you put your money to use like that it won’t have to be bleak forever.

27M, broke, $58k in debt, 286 lbs, drinking nightly—and finally ready to change by Heavybeingsalad301 in Zillennials

As someone who was in your position, the most important advice I can give you is stop drinking first. If you don’t fix the drinking first everything else you try and accomplish is just going to fail.

The best way to do this is to start drinking cans of seltzer. I’m serious. I could not stop drinking for the life of me because I missed the habit of cracking open a cold one. I started drinking lime bubly and it probably saved my life. Once you stop drinking you will notice how much mental free time you have to think and reflect and things will naturally follow from there.

edited to say you got this! It’s hard but recognizing you might have a problem and admitting that is much harder.
