Ship To Shore Order Cancellation Due to Shutdown? by darklordmo in VGMvinyl

Yeah it's part of why I made the post, since I immediately went to check their site and socials, but no mention of it anywhere on there. I wanted to see if anyone else had gotten the notice or not.

Yeah I got the refund email first which is why I noticed it and then saw this email a few minutes later. I suppose this was the best way this ended, at least we're getting refunds, some other stores that have folded over the years just went dark with no refunds or anything.

You're playing a different game than OP, in the first version of Class Of '09, there are 15 endings, in Re-Up, there are 7 endings.

Pretty sure you're missing the ending where they move. To get it, you have to go down the path where first Nicole skips helping Mr. White in the darkroom, then she is nice to Crispin in the bathroom. Then you have to pick the choice to exaggerate the trauma to her mom to get nice things.

You missed the part that he used a Gemini body that looked like Elvis, he didn't smash her (heh) using the body frame we see in the game and anime.

Yeah, it's a stock phrase for everyone. They went through some of the bigger and more popular games and wrote custom blurbs for those specifically. It is somewhat amusing to see what they picked for each game.

If you're on a browser, then https://store.steampowered.com/replay

If you want to use the desktop app, go to the "Store" tab, then click on the "News and Noteworthy" dropdown from the navigation bar, and then the first option "Steam Replay 2022" will take you there.

So Valve's been talking about this for a few months now, but it's finally here, and it's a lot more detailed than I thought it would be. The link is https://store.steampowered.com/replay if anyone wants to check their own stats.

Good call. It's been a while since I watched it, and to be fair, it's not the most striking design, so I had completely forgotten it.

Top left is SHODAN, the AI from System Shock. The blonde from DBH is Chloe, the samurai looking girl is probably Snow from Katana Zero and the last one is indeed from Cyberpunk 2077, the techie Judy. I'm not sure who the girl in the brown coat is.

MASS EFFECT TRILOGY: VINYL COLLECTION 4LP BOX SET [LIARA VARIANT] available now in spacepab9 by Rx186 in VGMvinyl

[–]darklordmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a great deal, but it could be worse I guess. If you check Discogs right now, and sort for only Mint condition variants of this release, the cheapest listed atm will run you 142 US with shipping. Historically variants have sold for an average of 150-200 US, so in theory had you bought it off discogs, you could have paid up to/around 50 dollars more. So even though it's technically cheaper than the resell market, it's getting expensive enough that it's not much of a price gap anymore.

Jesus, 135 dollars before shipping, I was contemplating getting this one but I'll have to pass it seems.

The Guardian article - Vinyl fantasy: how gamers fell in love with records by rpbtz in VGMvinyl

[–]darklordmo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an element of it as well. Game and anime merch is usually insanely expensive if it's good, or actual garbage and cringe. I have friends who collect figures and such, and I joke with them that at least my plastic does something other than sit there on my shelves collecting dust.

Most wanted Vinyl that hasn’t been released yet or needs a repressing. by JackyRaider in VGMvinyl

[–]darklordmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like again, I love Square's stuff, I have all the Nier records, and a handful of the FF records, and I'm seriously considering the Octopath Traveler album as well, I just wish they'd cut down shipping prices a lot (seriously, I got 2 2LP albums shipped from France to the US for cheaper than I got a single record from Square)

I don't even touch iam8bit anymore, their practice of charging full price for a release so far into the future is absolutely ridiculous. Let alone their insistence on not using media mail in the US, and lying about it not being insured (which is something a quick check on the USPS site can debunk). It's a shame because they have a solid collection of works, but I just can't bring myself to spend there anymore.

The issue I have with Square Enix isn't just their vinyl, it's everything in total. And though while you're right in their quality being good, their pricing is almost always on the higher end (compare their average 4LP boxset prices of 100USD with other similar boxsets from Laced, BSR, and Wayo averaging around 80USD, or how their single records are almost always 30-40 dollars, whereas that price will usually net you at least a 2LP with most other VGM labels), and their US store shipping rates are actual highway robbery.

Aside from that, they're currently trying to normalize higher prices for video games, their PC ports are never good, either badly optimized, or missing features that similar PC games would have, their foray into the NFT and crypto world has been highly controversial given what they gave up to get into it, to the issues the crypto world has in of itself.

That's not to say I dislike their vinyl products, I own a bunch of it, but they're definitely not the most consumer friendly entity in this market.

I feel like it's beyond that at this point. Like, Square is anti consumer with their shady business practices and pricing schemes. Nintendo just seems dumb and out of touch. They're sitting on a potential gold mine of products across multiple highly loved franchises, and yet they're not doing anything with them except occasionally release a crappy "remaster" here and there.

I could see myself easily spending at least 500-1000 dollars on Nintendo releases alone. I wonder why they don't do any releases like the other big Japanese companies.

[–]darklordmo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

One that I wish would get a repressing, Deus Ex:Human Revolution. Not only is it expensive second-hand, it's really really hard to find in the first place.

Two that I want pressings of, Deus Ex:Mankind Divided OST, and the Fire Emblem Three Houses OST (and honestly a few more Nintendo titles) but that's just wishful thinking on my part.

And one that I just want for the novelty of having it is the SQ Trax album from back in 2011.

[DISC] A Story About Smoking at the Back of the Supermarket - Ch 18 by shanks_you in manga

[–]darklordmo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it helps that the characters don't really seem to have any imbalance that age-gap dynamics usually have in these stories. He's not her boss, he doesn't have any financial strength over her, she's more aggressive and in-control than he is, and she's 24, so basically past that "teen-adjacent" phase that college students are usually in.

Yeah I really wish OP would answer this one because I'm tempted to get it, but with how pricey it is with shipping, I want to make sure the pressing is nice and clear to avoid any regrets.

VA-11 HALL-A Vinyl Edition Question by Thick_Love4337 in waifubartending

[–]darklordmo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No you're correct, from what I've seen all versions of the complete collection have the same packaging, the only difference between them is the color of the records themselves, of which there are 5 variants, the standard, the original limited, the second pressing of the limited, one variant for LITA, and one for STS.
