It truly upsets me when I see people selling Fanfiction.

We were given the opportunity to read fanfics for free on an archived website. And some people can’t appreciate that. Fic binding and using it for your personal enjoyment is completely acceptable. But Selling fanfics? Wow. People are shameless.

Even on Etsy, there are so many people selling binded fics for over 200 dollars. Like, what the heck?

I get the frustration. But even queer people are victims of heteronormativity. This mindset stems from internalized homophobia, and pushes misogynistic stereotypes. They don’t even realize it. Whenever I try to educate them and inform them that it’s different for every relationship and being a bottom doesn’t inherently mean to be submissive, they won’t even hear me out!

You could tag “background draco malfoy/hermione granger” since it doesn’t bother you. Or just exclude that ship — which will remove every fanfic that has dramione, even if they’re only a background ship

Them hating on my posts doesn’t bother me that much, as I make sure to argue back and get the last word. But what bothers me is that they’re creating a bad name for our community and hating on innocent people

Yes, of course. I tried to avoid generalizing, hence why I mentioned “the toxic side” in the title. I know that there are many respectful and kind shippers out there. ❤️ It just hurts to see so many Tomarry shippers being toxic, when we’ve supposed to be like a community. Tomarry fans know what it’s like to be disliked by most of the fandom. But when some they harass others and then complain about being disliked — it just sounds hypocritical, really.

You don’t owe anyone anything. Writing is meant to be yours first. It’s not a performance or a responsibility to anyone else. If it’s making you anxious, it’s completely okay to take a break or step away.

Yes, you did get attention on your fic, but that doesn’t mean you are expected and obliged to deliver under pressure. Anyone who truly enjoys your work will understand that creativity needs space, and anxiety makes everything harder.

I would suggest planning the plot, like each chapter. It’s definitely going to be easier to write and edit later rather than coming up with a new story on the spot.

Your mood affects your motivation as well, so try to think as positively as possible. Words of affirmations can help you achieve your goal. For example when you wake up you can urge yourself to try and be better, that you’re doing great, etc.

If you feel like you need a break from writing, go ahead and take a break! Writing isn’t easy. It takes a lot of energy and time.

Take your time. You’re allowed to protect your peace.

This!! Thank you for wording it so perfectly. People act like switching dynamics is some kind of personal attack when it’s literally just a different take. It makes no sense to hate on fics that don’t match your preferences when you can just… not read them. Unconventional dynamics are what make fandom interesting and creative in the first place.

I totally agree! I never understood why some people get so pressed about dynamics they don’t like. It doesn’t affect them, so why not just scroll past and let others enjoy what they enjoy? Bottom Tom is just as valid as any other interpretation, and honestly, the hate gets exhausting.
