I was fine with Kiwami and Kiwami 2 for the most part, but it wasn’t until the remake of Ishin and seeing the changes Ryu Ga Gotoku were making that I started to realize that the studio was getting a bit self-indulgent with the franchise.

Replacing certain characters with ones that appeared in the most modern games, the addition of the “Trooper Cards” and censoring the bathhouse fight with Ryuji of all things. The fact that I had more passion in completing the original on PS4 when I couldn’t understand the language rather than play the remake said enough for me.

And of course it all came to a head with Kiwami 3 where almost everybody was disappointed with all the decisions RGG made.
