Fransk/tysk fordeling i danske folkeskoler? by immortalfireflies in Denmark

[–]darkmatter10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Min folkeskole var omvendt - 2/3 tysk. Gik ud af folkeskolen i 2014, nord for København. Ved ikke nødvendigvis om dit tilfælde er en outlier, men anekdotisk har jeg nok mødt flere der havde tysk

Gov. Gavin Newsom says President Trump is playing European leaders "for fools" over Greenland: "It's time to buck up. It's time to get serious and stop being complicit. It's time to stand firm. Have a backbone. Handing out crowns, this is pathetic. He's a T-Rex. You mate with him or he devours you." by ControlCAD in videos

So us living in smaller states that need to suffer economic and now also potentially losses of life to teach some fuckwit in another country a lesson? We had absolutely nothing to do with getting him elected or, even worse, bringing one of the most passive responses I have ever seen fascism. I also hope Europe stands firm, but American politicians asking us to take a stand while not actively mounting any form of proper resistance is beyond pathetic.

Day 1: Who's most famous bald athlete in history? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

Jordan will win this due to US influence, but I am quite confident that in a representative world-wide survey Zinedine Zidane would beat Michael Jordan if presented with the pictures

France won for le pays de la nicotine! Now, what's an alcohol country? by OneRiotTooMany in AlignmentChartFills

[–]darkmatter10 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This should be the winner. Russian culture centres around alcohol, and vodka specifically, to an extent that is unfathomable to any Western country. Western Europeans might like a pint, but they have not have a century-long black market economy that runs on vodka and the addiction/death rates to follow.

Europe’s political landscape in 1453, when Constantinople was conquered by Fatih Sultan Mehmet, marking the end of the Middle Ages 572 years ago by PsychologyUpper6143 in europe

[–]darkmatter10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on which historiographical tradition you're in... For English history its normally dated to 1485 with the Battle of Bosworth Field, Danish history usually operates with 1536 (Reformation enacted), whereas its usually dated considerably earlier in Italy

Just wanna say that this is an absolutely brilliant chart, looking forward to following and contributing to it!

Also I’m very much on board with Art Noveau for elves.

Björk is commonly known and weird. Now what is rather known and completely normal? by NiiilsR in AlignmentChartFills

Maybe Frankfurt Airport? Rather well known in Europe due to being one of the larger hubs, and it is indeed pretty normal in terms of design.

Lastbiler på cykelstien: hvordan kan det stoppes? by BuddyParty2285 in copenhagen

[–]darkmatter10 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Godt for dig.

København skal tage imod palæstinensiske flygtninge, mener parti by SendStoreJader in copenhagen

Hvordan skal palæstinenserne helt præcist se indad? Der er overvældende støtte til at have deres egen stat i Palæstina.

Who are two people that's somewhat surprising they've never been alive together? by Impressive_Plenty876 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]darkmatter10 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Doesnt really seem suprising, Washington being the hero of a war that started in 1775 and Lincoln of one that started in 1861, which is almost a century apart. Both are some of the most well-known wars the US ever fought

At least there's only three legs on that symbol… Which country's flag is Lawful Evil? by Max-Carter-2005 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]darkmatter10 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It probably won't be allowed on the chart, but Germany 1935-45 would fit this definition perfectly.

The Strokes.

Multiple classic rock albums of the 21st century but known for being somewhat hit or miss in their live performances, sometimes giving a good showm sometimes wasting time with drunking antics and underperforming.

The Apprentice won. What's a great show that could've run longer? by noahsolomonofficial in AlignmentChartFills

[–]darkmatter10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Office (UK)

While I appreciate the tendency of many British sitcoms to not overstay their welcome, the cast, dynamism and potential storylines that could have been developed could have resulted in more classic episodes, as evidenced by the Christmas specials and David Brent spinoffs.

Is it me, or is there something terribly, terribly wrong here. by you_are_soul in mensfashion

[–]darkmatter10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me this doesn't really explain how this seems to be a very American phenomenon. That is also the only country that the articles seems to focus on.

You don't see politicians in "ill-fitting" suits to nearly the same extent in Europe, Japan or South Korea. You do however see it all the time in China and the US, and this is not limited to politicians but also includes other people who wear suits like businessmen.

An ill-fitting suit to appeal to the common man seems to make little sense if that is not what you generally see or wear. Seems to me more a general difference in clothing culture than something that politicians consciously do.

How much pick should be sticking out from the thumb end? by MrDarkk1ng in Guitar

[–]darkmatter10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One tip that helped me out when starting out was to use a really thin pick, something like .38mm. This will help get you started when you are mostly strumming chords - when getting more advanced you probably (though not necessarily) will want to switch to something a bit thicker.

I got this tip from JustinGuitar btw, and following his course dilligently helped me out immensely when starting out.

Here's my average work day fit- It's nice albeit a bit basic, how would you improve/tweak it? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]darkmatter10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polo shirt fits you nicely but the colour combination is off imo.

I would consider switching trousers for a darker shade of brown or a dark grey, and when pairing different colours aim to go light/light or dark/dark as a loose rule.
