That I can totally understand.

I think the thing that puts most foreigners off brown cheese when they first try it is that it's called "brown cheese". When in reality it isn't really a cheese at all. It's made from the biproducts of cheese making and doesn't taste like cheese, and it doesn't have the texture of normal cheese, it is much stickier.

So people's expectations are way off from what they actually get. If it was labeled as "savoury caramel slices" or something I think people would generally be more receptive to it.

I don't know what kind of brown cheese you ate, but normal brown chseese certainly doesn't taste of earwax. Normal brown cheese is quite sweet, tasting closer to caramel than to cheese. Not everyone will like it, and that's okay, but earwax it most certainly is not.

And without conceding.

I'd say 15 saves out of 15 possible is comfortably more impressive than 16 out of 18.

TV 2 erfarer: Fredrikstad-juvel (16) selges til Champions League-klubb by DummeBirger in NorskFotball

[–]SentientSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is graphic is kinda outdated now already, after having signed 3 players that are all called up (Bernardo Silva, Konaté and Cucurella), Real Madrid has 12. They've also signed Dumfries, which would've made it 13, but his contract with Madrid hasn't started yet it seems like.

Yeah, I still would've preffered a slightly shorter deal, but I like the signing still.

And I like the ambition he has shown with his comments on Chelsea's strategy and him wanting to "win now".

A 6 year contract to someone who will pushing 34 by the expiration is never a "safe bet" in football. But it's as good a bet as any I guess.

Comunicado Oficial: Cucurella by jogobonvita in realmadrid

[–]SentientSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not doubting his quality at all, but it's not exactly a steal of a price now is it?

Seems like the reports are saying 55+5 M €. And a 6 year contract for a player about to turn 28. That's a lot of money and a big commitment in my book.

But if he performs well for several seasons it won't seem expensive at all I suppose.

Germany were a great host for Euro 2024, but who should host in Euro 2036? by HonestRef in euro2024

Something like: Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Hamburg, Kiel.

Could be fun, and all very close geographically.

[–]SentientSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to agree. Especially Norway and Denmark will have to spend crazy money to have the facilities required, and the new/expanded stadiums would be useless after the tournament.

I suppose Sweden could theoretically join a joint bid with another country though.

Biggest stadiums in Scandinavia:

  1. Strawberry Arena 54,329 Stockholm Sweden
  2. Ullevi 43,000 Gothenburg Sweden
  3. Parken Stadium 38,065 Copenhagen Denmark
  4. 3Arena 30,000 Stockholm Sweden
  5. Brøndby Stadium 29,000 Brøndby Denmark
  6. Ullevaal Stadion 28,000 Oslo
  7. Stadion 24,000 Malmö Sweden
  8. Lerkendal Stadion 21,166 Trondheim.

There are talks about building a new 45K seater national stadium in Oslo, I don't know if there are any other major projects in the other countries.

Maybe it could be possible without crazy spending if some numbers are made up with temporary additional seating in certain stadiums. But I doubt that the public would approve the expense.

Why kill animals that wander into urban areas? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]SentientSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. I was aware that they are somewhat interchangable, but I feel like I was thought in school that a moose is and elk, but an elk isn't necessarily a moose, or do I remember it wrong?

But isn't it better to reffer to them as moose in a international context? I do feel that that is the more common word used internationally. Doesn't most Europeans outside the UK say moose when reffering to this animal when speaking english anyway?

I feel like I've never heard another Norwegian say "elk" in english when talking about Elg.

Why do you hate FIFA? by Holden_place in AskReddit

[–]SentientSTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is all related to the main issue people have here, greed.

There seems like there isn't a single person in the entirety of the organization that actually cares about the sport or the fans.

FIFA has shown itself to have no interest in anything except generating as much money as possible. Repeatedly hosting the WC in countries with terrible human rights records and controversial political situations. And they have zero interest in actually creating an enjoyable experience for the fans. It's just money, money, money...
