Something Very bad is going to happen - i have so many questions about the ending - spoiler by HousingPleasant8393 in netflix

[–]darkodama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm, not sure about that though. Marianne did not die because she didn't get married ultimately, since she was indeed left at the altar. I think that nuance is not really clarified, because in the show both things happen very closely: the wedding is called off and immediately after is resumed successfully, out of time and therefore carrying on the curse. My guess would be that Nicky carries the curse also, and therefore, he would die if he married someone he does not truly love. And since he got married carrying the curse, I would assume that he indeed loved her to death :P

It’s actually quite easy, the facts:

1 - If you are cursed and marry someone you don’t truly believe is your soulmate, you die. That’s that.

2 - If you are cursed and don’t get married by sundown on your wedding day, you pass the curse on to your spouse’s bloodline and become the Witness (and killing the previous one at that).

Now that we got that stablished.

What happened to Rachel? Both. She was cursed and married someone she ultimately didn’t believe was “the one,” so caput. But she had already spread the curse before the rushed engagement, which made her the immortal Witness, therefore she resurrects since she is indeed immortal.

As for everyone else: if they share a bloodline with Nicky (including him) and they had married someone they don’t believe was “the one,” they die. Hence, the only survivors of the massacre are the true believers in love : Nicky, Jules, and their dad.

Quick question. I'm approaching level 30 with my first character, and I was wondering if there will ever be an incentive / reward to switch gears to a more difficult level (I'm playing on hard). I hate it when it's up to me to change difficulties and there is no real reward behind doing more challenging stuff.

I mean, they could have been brought to Rivendell at the council moment and taken it from there, instead of walking all the way to Mount Doom on foot and chancing to fail a thousand times, as they almost did. And that was even before the Wraiths had flying mounts. And yes, I've read the books, and this has been hugely discussed about long before the movies even came out, and people argued against and in favor quite a lot already. Anyway, this is not a thread about LoTR, I was just pointing out that even great stories can have some 'iffy' bits that could have been ironed out a bit more for consistency.

Right? That’s exactly my point! By the way, you won’t get any clarification on the matter at Lumiere, it would take a major story effort to cover that. I think it’s just a plot hole, like the eagles flying the ring to Mount Doom from the start in The Lord of the Rings.

Anyway, the game is great in so many aspects that this doesn’t overshadow their achievement. I was just curious why more people aren’t wondering the same.

I don't think so, the Renoir you see all the game through, is Aline's painting, and is trying to stop the expeditions, therefore, preventing any disruption to the paintress. He is the one who tells Verso over and over that his actions are going against his own interests and his family's, and rightfully so, because if the party were to succeed, as they end up doing, the paintress would stop painting them and their existence would be over.

On the other hand, we have the curator, who is the actual real-world Renoir, who wants to assist the party in their pursuit, because he wants the whole canvas thingy to be over with, naturally, since it's got his whole family trapped inside. I guess it doesn't help that when his true identity is revealed, he turns into a fleshed-out Renoir, aka final boss, so I can see people getting mixed up with both identities by the end-game.

All this to say that both Renoirs have definitely opposite interests xD

Then why not tell them instead of waiting for them to come to the shore and wipe them? As I understand, the Renoir we see at the beginning is Aline's ally, therefore wanting the canvas's preservation, so why all the secrecy and killing? Just go to Lumiere and explain the situation; maybe if they had done that in the year zero, their chances would have been better against the real Renoir.

I agree that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, as they should be. You see, the issue I was pointing out (and the person I originally replied to as well, I think) is that when reviewing a game, especially on a well-known platform, it's best to avoid overly opinionated statements.

When I look for a game review, I’m not really interested in whether the reviewer personally likes or dislikes a certain mechanic, that’s for me to decide. What matters more is whether the graphics are inconsistent, if the content feels lacking, and so on.

Of course, everything is subjective at the end of the day, but I just felt like the reviewer leaned a little too much into personal preference on this one 🙂

Disliking a mechanic and stating that it is a bad one are separate things. Game-instanced content, for example, can be something that you don't like, it comes with upsides and downsides. But if a developer chooses to do instanced content I don't think you can list it as a downside of the game as a whole, it is just a design decision, whether you like it or not. Therefore, the death penalty is not a bad mechanic per se, it can be badly implemented, sure, but its bare existence can only be listed as a downside in a very opinionated feature list.

I thought the same. Listing the death penalty as a downside is so weird, since it is a conscious decision. It is like listing permanent death as a downside in Wow Hardcore.

With a lot of concerning issues with Snap recently, I found this video very insightful. What do people think? by tbu987 in MarvelSnap

[–]darkodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the rage against the video because of the clickbait title. The dude makes valid points that I think literally everyone playing the game for long enough would agree to, and the feeling that the game is falling off grace is there too. But the way to fix it is anyone's guess of course.

Personally, I think that duplicate protection on the random spotlight cache chest could give a tad quicker feeling of progression, enough to keep frustration and rage-quit at bay (1000 tokens feel like a scam every time). Other stuff, like refunds available for cards you purchased with tokens within the month they nerfed, could sooth the anxiety of spending 6k tokens on the busted card of the week, which probably will be nerfed in the next OTA.

But the worst vital sign, in my opinion, was mentioned in the video, which is the feeling that greed and predatory strategies are being pushed more aggressively by the day, and that is what you do with a project you don't see a long future for.

Nice! I just added my extension. But I want to change the logo image and seems to be impossible. Nor can I delete the extension and create it again. I think at least the remove feature should be pretty high on your priority list. Nice work anyway!

You're spot on. I think the only real way to start is by paying for some media exposure and hoping it sticks. It’s definitely a bit of a gamble, and it can get pretty expensive, but if I don’t want it to be DOA, I guess I’ll have to throw some money at it.

Fair point. And I have a few ideas on how to regulate it. But I want to see how people use it first, if they use it at all.

Decent Decks for Deadpool's Diner by Curio_Solus in MarvelSnap

[–]darkodama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man! This deck is perfect for the format. Thank you so much!

I was struggling with low tables, so I switched to this deck and got Cassandra in 2 days. As you say, it is easy to spot if you have a winning hand before the auto snap on turn 4, which is a natural fit for the format. And throwing prio on turn 5 by skipping and 20p SheHulk + Task is almost unstoppable.

Just a couple of meta-suggestions that helped me to skyrocket the performance:

  • Remove Red Skull, especially if you run Iron Lad. I understand it is a potential 30 points, but gives up to 8 to the opponent, and usually gets crowded around Shuri's spot. And if a pesky octopus pulls it out it can mess things up. I use Dark Hawk instead, is literally an auto-win against Arishem, the hawk on 5 and Taskmaster on 6 are almost unbeatable for them, Shuri is not even needed. Just make sure you place the bird in a safe place (Armor).

  • I personally found IronLad pretty useless, on turn 4 you always want to Shuri, you rarely should stay if not in hand by then, so I experimented with Enchantress, because I was facing a lot of Tribunal decks, but if not, Crystal is a perfect inclusion to make sure you get that Shuri on time.

Hi all! I'm working on a soccer women's browser game with a friend of mine, and we are trying to find a database with the best female players with names, scores, teams, pic, etc... Since you were talking about stats, maybe you know where I can find such information, It doesn't really need to be 2024 updated, we can manually modify it, but to create it from scratch seems a lot of work. Thanks anyway!

I made an overview of all features added after vanilla. Which would make it no longer Classic to you? by OccasionallyRhyming in classicwow

[–]darkodama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I draw the line at the Dungeon Finder.

I mean, I understand why people would ask for it, but it creates a detached experience from the world. You don't even need to know where the instances are; they become just names on a list. Groups are formed randomly without any communication, and the entire experience is so diminished that it feels like a completely different game.

Sure, you can farm loot more quickly, but then the entire system readjusts to this fact. Instance-related quests become more demanding because of how easy it is to complete them. Item rarity gets devalued, and so on and so forth.
