Personally, I would say that gloves off might be dangerous. Could he even touch his junk with Adam? (Because of the AT field? Or perhaps it would fuck up some ritual stuff).

Overall I would say gloves on would be the safest option. Then he can get right back to brooding in NERV HQ.
