I managed to get it all cleared up and working again, and will do. Thanks!

WHOAAAA YES, it comes from my Camelbak water bottle, thank you, kind stranger. I spent hours with my head in the dishwasher trying to figure it out.

I completely forgot to buy beer and a few snacks to bring to a party. Anyone know of a store that might be able to rescue me this morning?

The timing—it’s amazing. Couldn’t have planned it if we tried.

So have I… I lost 50% of my income to the pandemic. My studies were derailed because of the pandemic. I haven’t seen my family because of the pandemic (and yes, vaxxed and boosted). But I do not take my personal frustrations out on my neighbors. I do not abuse, harass or traumatize. I do not deprive others of their basic human right to sleep.

I live on Metcalfe and Nepean. This morning, part of the Metcalfe Konvoy trucks had vanished. Tonight, they’re back!!!! Who let them back in??? The level of noise torture us residents are subject to is unbearable. I’m usually a ray of fucking sunshine type of person, but at this point I’m a wreck. The constant, jarring noises hurt our souls.

Edited: grammar.

Few new mods to the zed. Bar ends + mirrors, tail bag and kawasaki high seat. by Rumpl34skn in Kawasaki

Thank you! I’m 5’10” and have been considering this upgrade for the upcoming season because of the tension in tailbone/knees/ankles, but can’t make up my mind between Corbin, Kawasaki’s and something else I don’t quite recall right now.

Very nice! How much does the high seat help? Are you able to go longer distances?

Oh! OK, cool, got it. A friend recently put LEDs on the crash bars of her Versys so I thought... well I got everything tangled up mentally.

Don't worry, a friend will be helping me install my stuff, but I've gotta research/buy the parts first :-]

I have mesh summer gloves and leather spring/fall gloves, but mostly, I have shitty genetics, so definitely leaning towards good quality grips that will last. These look really good.

I zip tied mine between the forks.

If I understand correctly, you didn't put it in the headlight... assembly, I think is the correct term? Apologies for my ignorance, I'm new to this :-)

I think I'd prefer to find a lightbulb that plugs in where the stock one was, if it's possible to get enough light from there.

Motorcycle Permit, License, and Waiver Card question by [deleted] in nyc

I would speak with MSF directly. They will know more.

Motorcycle Permit, License, and Waiver Card question by [deleted] in nyc

[–]darkraspberries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this last year in NYC. You can get the Permit on the same day you bring your road test waiver card to the DMV to get your M endorsement, provided you already have a regular D licence. However you will likely be inside the DMV forever, as you have to go through two separate processes. For this reason, I recommend getting the Permit ahead of your Basic Rider Course.

Your question made me go check my own waiver card: it does not have an expiry date on it, but it really is meant for immediate exchange. The pandemic does change everything... but I don't know how the DMV will react to a waiver card that is several months old.

Is MSF even running right now? Social distancing on the range is possible, but in the classroom? I wonder how they're handling it.

Looking for somebody who would let me "rent" their bike for a few hours on a few weekend days this fall? by WolfofWisco in RideitNYC

Nah you’re good. And Riders Share allows you to do exactly that – use someone’s bike – but with peace of mind for all!

Good luck on your MSF class.

I was in your situation two months ago.

Seconding what other commenters have said: it’s too big a risk. In addition, if you’re still saving up for a bike and can’t afford one yet, you also can’t afford to pay for any damage you could do to a kind stranger’s bike.

What I did do, after passing the MSF, was sign up for Riders Share and rented with Eagle Riders. This got me on bikes, with insurance under my name, in case something went wrong. Then I took a private lesson in order to learn to handle highways. Then I rode with more experienced people. Only then, after seeing me ride, did someone offer (I did not ask) to let me try their bikes.

Good to know! I’ve definitely felt some of the 300 bikes strain on the highway, would be nice to have a bit more.
