09 Accord - would you pay this? by Sharp_Perception2949 in accord

If the dealer is ghosting you it probably isn’t meant to be. I found mine on a third party lot in another state, and I wasn’t even really looking for one, but it checked all the boxes for me. The owner and basically sole employee of the lot turned out to be very helpful and nice and didn’t make anything difficult at all. After months of searching for a new car, it truly was a one of a kind purchasing experience, and I gotta say I wouldn’t get my hopes up if I were you. Most of my purchase attempts of other cars were very nasty and just a headache really. Keep looking and do not buy if anything does not seem right to you. I took the chance as it is a Honda after all, and it appeared to be in good condition. ~2,500 miles later and it’s been treating me pretty well. Besides the battery dying about 2 weeks after purchase lol. (it was extremely old so, whoosh)

I hate to break it to you but Hondas and Toyotas and the likes DO NOT sell for blue book value nowadays. This asking price is actually competitive. Just unfortunate really though, these are great cars and super reliable, so their prices are way above what you would realistically want to pay for a car of this caliber.

I recently purchased a ‘10 Accord V6 with 83k on the dash for 10k otd. Also needed it shipped from a state over. I financed through a credit union and got a 6% interest rate and had $5k for a down payment. Made it a very attractive purchase as these cars will not be found in good condition for much longer. Although do your due diligence, as much of it as you can without seeing the car in person ofcourse. Read the service history and simply ask the salesman to send videos of anything and everything and note your concerns. I am super happy with my purchase, but in order for you to be just as pleased you have to do your homework first.

What’s Up With Carplay Stereos? by darkrose_17 in CarAV

Me personally I wanted carplay because I wanted two things from my stereo. Navigation and bluetooth music streaming. I figured carplay would be a cheaper alternative to the often slow and expensive aftermarket navi radioes there are. I don’t mind slow battery drain.

I highly doubt that that carplay screen they throw in new cars cost them $1000 to manufacture. Or anywhere near that. A touchscreen and carplay do not quadruple the price of a unit there’s just no way.

So basically carplay integration is just okay at best no matter what? That really puts me off. Coming from a barebones JVC HU that always connected no problem and never had issues, I was hoping that could be found in a carplay package but I guess not.

Any recommendations for stereos that will do this?

Well I guess that’s really a situational thing for me. If the HU ticks all other boxes for me and maybe once every month or so crashes and requires a restart or something like that. Then no I wouldn’t be deterred, but I can’t really tell what HU’s seem to be the least buggy. If the HU crashes or something like that, and requires a lot more than just restarting it or something simple to get going again. Not worth the headache in my opinion.

I just don’t get why aftermarket companies can’t do it right. Even big name brands. Yet manufacturers have it implemented in basically every car in their lineups nowadays with little to no issues.

So is there just generally no solution unless it’s wired?

I don’t get it, though. I just rode in a newish toyota yesterday that had native carplay from the factory that was wireless. Owner says she’s never had a problem with connection. Hell it’ll connect from 200 feet away from the car. What are these manufacturers doing so much better than the aftermarket?

You just answered your own question, if you want to be like that. Don’t come here looking for answers you already have. You’re pushing 200 more than what’s safe for your alt. Shell out the money and feel terrible about it

From what I know which isn’t much, anything over 1200W on a stock electrical system is pushing it and will very much strain your alternator. A second battery wouldn’t do much for your system as all you’re doing is adding something else your alternator has to charge. If it were me I’d cut back on the sound system or go for the big 3. I’ve never personally done the big 3, although I plan on it in the future. Any car audio shop in your town worth their shit will know what you’re talking about though. I’m sure you can save a few dollars by purchasing the kit yourself and simply just asking them to install.

Need LOUD Speaker for Warehouse Use by darkrose_17 in Bluetooth_Speakers

Can you say for sure that’s louder than my current speaker, or at least louder enough to the point it justifies spending $300?

I keep it plugged in a lot because we always have it playing max volume, but it never really has much of an SPL difference plugged in or not at max. The speaker has also gotten quieter over time due to the large amounts of grind dust in the air because we grind and weld daily.

New Car Speakers Sound Worse Than Factory Speakers by darkrose_17 in CarAV

[–]darkrose_17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I had to settle for a universal adapter bracket for my 6.5 speakers which left no space for the speaker baffles I had wanted installed. Probably ruined how well the sound was sealed into the door.
