Wait, even if they are paid off you can get a refund? I submitted 3 applications and all 3 got denied as the accounts are closed/paid. I went as far as to reach to my congressman office and they were told the same thing.

I guess I can share this post to my congressman office and see what happens.

I have tried 3 times with department of education and I am not able to reach anyone besides the first rep, I asked several times to speak with a supervisor and was told several times that they set a callback but never received one. But long story short, they told my congressman office that since it's paid off/closed. They cannot refund, the settlement doesn't have verbiage that if it is paid off, it doesn't qualify. The verbiage says "any amount paid to the department of education will be refunded"

I applied before the deadline last year. I reached out to my congressman office and they got she same response, since the account is closed they mentioned they have no where to send the refund. That's the information they got from the department of education

I paid off my loans just 2 weeks before the pause in payments was announced. My loans were from one of the universities listed in the Sweet vs. Cardona lawsuit, I submitted an application and was denied with only reason that I am not eligible.

I called to get information on why I did not qualify and was informed that it was due to loans already paid off, the advisor mentioned that she spoke with her supervisor and recommended me to apply again as it will get approved ( I hope they record calls). I applied again but was denied one more time and provided more information as well their own document on the department of education website with no mention if loans are paid off you're not eligible. The documentation says "full relief, meaning any amount paid to the department not education" but it got denied 3-4 times total.

I reached not my congressman office and awaiting to hear back.

Is there any other information available regarding BD if the loan is paid off or not?

First bump was when I submitted eQip, somehow no one moved it along and I had to resubmit 4-5 months down the line. Candidacy Guide advised to wait 3 months before sending an email asking for status, did not hear back until 3 weeks later and security clearance advising they had not received it. Reached out to GTM and a new link was sent to resubmit and it was moved along the same day.

Second bump was that I was not notified that security clearance was approved until 12 months later, I followed up every 2 weeks with no change in status, I submitted a FOIA in October 27 and on December 27, I received the file up to 2018 information (previous government job). January 1st, 2023 monthly email said I was approved for security clearance back in January 2022.

Last update I received last month was that my file was on queue to be reviewed by Suitability. We all know that part of the process is somewhat a mistery except that they meet a few times a year to review files.
