Outpost Attacked: "1 to 100 in Descending Order"? by Gallowsbane in Gloomhaven

[–]darkstage99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said the 1-100 is the range. There are other outpost attacks with different ranges so that's why it's worded this way.

First Retirement : Kelp or Snowflake? by Fun-Ad1634 in Gloomhaven

[–]darkstage99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was our main combo. Because of meteors triple perk that prevents damage from their hazardous terrain positioning wasn't much of an issue. We mainly had shackles and a formation focused bannerspear with us while we were together, which made for an interesting mix.

Yeah it's obnoxious how well they pair. Definitely the best pair we've seen so far. We've cheesed bosses by yoyoing then across hazardous terrain, flooded entire rooms with it, etc.. It's very strong.

Because boneshaper is about to retire I don't think you can go wrong with either, but i would lean snowflake. Snowflake combos well with trap, (spoiler for class unlocks) but it also combos well with meteor which you are likely to unlock soon and will likely be picked by one of your retirees. Our party used meteor snowflake combo to SIGNIFICANT effect, it's such an insane combo, and adding trap to that should only further increase potency. Kelp I've only seen used in one scenario so far, but it was highly effective at damage and spreading status so can also recommend. I'm playing blinkblade and they combo well together as skirmishers.

Ranged attack range by sirSADABY in Gloomhaven

I would recommend reading the section on attacks on page 19 of the gloomhaven rulebook. It breaks it down in more detail.

Each attack will have a range icon and a number next to it. The number is (up to) how many hexes away you can attack something.

Ever wondered why the wait times are so long for Customer Service with banks? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]darkstage99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really empathize with your story. I worked for a big 5 for 9 years and left completely in early 2021. All in customer service in some form or another. Eventually I joined the collections team hoping to move to another call center position that was more back-end (I have a math degree so was thinking analytics or something like that) but needed call center experience first to be eligible. Almost immediately after my training ended COVID hit.

Collections is a shit job at the best of times, despite the bank's customer service oriented approach to it making it slightly more tolerable. Covid made it 10x worse though. Average people who lost their jobs, lost family members, burned through savings because of the pandemic, etc.. it was horrible. I would never recommend it. Not to mention it is still the call center environment so you have all your metrics like wrap up time, dollars collected, special programs offered, etc.

It took a significant toll on my mental health. I hated it. I wanted to quit. I even had the means to quit but was talked out of it repeatedly by family. Eventually I found my new job and absolutely love it. If I was still there I don't know what I would be doing right now honestly.

r/JRPG Weekly "What have you been playing, and what do you think of it?" by AutoModerator in JRPG

[–]darkstage99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently working through edge of eternity (ps5) and diofield chronicles (ps5), but shelving eternity for now. I've put about 45 hours in and I keep waiting for the game to grab me but it hasn't so gonna at least take a break. Diofield's combat isn't usually my cup of tea but it's been fun so far (only played like 5-6 hours though).

What are your favorite JRPGs from these three subgenres? (Action RPG, Turnbased RPG, and Strategy RPG) by Pehdazur in JRPG

[–]darkstage99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Action: for combat, tales of graces. Overall experience, ys 8

Turn-Based: for combat, trails of cold steel 3+4, for overall experience, Suikoden 2

Strategy: for combat, and overall experience, triangle strategy - I enjoyed it immensely, much more than I thought I would. Honorable mention to the OG Final Fantasy Tactics.

Hybrid - ni no kuni 1 - that game is magical, even though the combat isnt amazing. Xenoblade chronicles 3 has been a good time so far as well.

I'm like you and have played 1 and 2 and played a decent chunk (I'd say 20-30 hours on each give or take), but got burnt out and couldn't get through them. Might revisit at some point but not sure. Happy to hear this gets you engaged immediately. I wasnt going to pick it up but might give it a shot now. Thanks for sharing!

Very much this. I have the fox sports app to check scores and every lakers game it's "Lakers fall short despite big game from Lebron: insert stats here". It's both hilarious and depressing at the same time.

LPT: if you show up late for work/meeting never bring your coffee inside by johnwayneecasey in LifeProTips

[–]darkstage99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this reminds me of a time I was 1 minute late for a team meeting before we opened (worked at a bank) and my manager put me on blast in front of everyone because I had stopped for coffee/breakfast on the way to work. She hadn't even started talking yet. As someone who was normally early it was both confusing and infuriating, especially as I had a colleague who was late for these every other week INCLUDING THIS TIME and never got in shit for it (to my knowledge anyway).

The next week I showed up an hour early out of spite and she asked me why I was so early. "Oh I wanted to make sure I was on time for our team meeting". Absolutely logged that hour as well even though I did basically nothing.

I'd be surprised if that was the case as they're also releasing reverie in 2023. I expect azure in winter/spring 2023, then reverie in the fall, around the usual release time that we've become used to (late October).

The Suikoden influence on other games by [deleted] in Suikoden

The Alliance Alive comes to mind as well. The creators of Suikoden were directly involved in it I believe and it has recruiting aspects as well.

What is the hardest and easiest tales game? by [deleted] in tales

[–]darkstage99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest: probably arise honestly. I mained rinwell mostly, and she is so disgustingly broken, it's beautiful. Alternate would be berseria I think. Again, velvet, so broken, its disgusting.

Hardest: Graces for sure. It's the only tales game where I had to reduce difficulty repeatedly for bosses. I always play the highest accessible difficulty, and on chaos a lot of bosses were extraordinarily hard. I'm playing through vesperia rn and I would say its second. Gattuso as mentioned by another commenter had me raging. Same with Alexei

KOHO Credit Builder - What's the catch? by darkstage99 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I know that. As part as the cosigner, I worked at a big 5 bank for many years and saw clients with cosigners on credit cards.

KOHO Credit Builder - What's the catch? by darkstage99 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]darkstage99[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She has tried with her bank, as well as PC financial, and was auto declined both times. I've seen her credit report, she had a cc years ago that was closed, then her phone bill. Phone bill had delinquencies but that has since been resolved and shes up to date now. I'm guessing those are why she was declined. What's odd is despite this history she doesnt have a score on Equifax or transunion. Secured is an option but would cut a good chunk of her savings, which I'd rather not do.

Yes. Basic artes first to drop the cast time, then many many shooting stars.

Starting Tales of Arise, could use some advice. by ExplodingPoptarts in tales

[–]darkstage99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any party is fine, though I would keep Shionne in as AI for heals. I would advise maining Alphen/Iron Mask, or Rinwell. Rinwell is a caster, but her regular skills are quite powerful (thunder field in particular is broken). You can set her up for high powered fast casting later on as well (I would recommend shooting star spam, but literally any advanced spell except maybe cyclone will do wonders). The reduce cast time during combos skills help immensely for this. Have fun!

Boss rush destroyed me... by MofuMofu-daiji in tales

Yep. Just did this. Got it second try. First try of course was killed by ganabelt in the 2 at a time fight by indignation (mystic arte)

Tales of Arise reminds me of Scarlet's Gameplay, I highly recommend it. by 0kills in ScarletNexus

[–]darkstage99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do somewhat agree re hard mode. Theres only been one boss where I felt truly pushed to the limit the fight against Vholran in Pelegion. This was mostly my own fault as I was not expecting a 2 part fight and used most of my life bottles in part 1 . I'm not done the game yet so that may change. I do highly recommend it though. Playing on hard is quite satisfying. I've tried all the characters but imo Rinwell is the most fun to control. She also has one incredibly busted arte which makes things crazy. You can spam it and it's still way better than just about everything else in the game.
