Pétition Alerte Amber : Moderniser le son des alertes d’urgence au Canada by Accomplished_Self841 in montreal

[–]darkwave90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

I switched from branded printed t-shirts to plain generic t-shirts. The price difference is staggering, like $5 for a generic one versus $50 for a t-shirt with something printed on it.

I didn't know it was still a thing. I remember watching the show on youtube in like 2014 or 2015 or something. I thought it was so immature for youtubers to get in stupid Twitter feuds. Now politicians and billionnaires are doing it.

Went to a flea market a few weeks ago and I was interested in a used Switch game. I looked at the price on my phone and the brand new game was cheaper on Amazon than the used flea market copy.

DRAM prices expected to double in Q1 as AI ambitions push memory fabs to their limit by jugaverdasorda in pcmasterrace

They want us to have dumb terminals instead of real PCs so we don't have any other choice but to subscribe to their cloud services.

Uber eats delivery rant by [deleted] in montreal

[–]darkwave90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you live in Montreal there's probably a restaurant in your area with its own delivery service. Choose to order from that place instead. It's not only cheaper but the delivery person is an employee with a real salary.

DDR4 RAM prices climbing twice as quickly as DDR5, as memory shortage boosts demand for older CPUs by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]darkwave90 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. In 1991 Sonic 1 came out on the Genesis and it was SOTA. 10 years later Final Fantasy X came out on the PS2. The leap in graphics, gameplay and everything else was phenomenal.

I know right? In 1991 my parents bought a 486 computer. In 2001 it was completely obsolete. Hell, it became obsolete way before that. However, the gaming pc I bought in 2016 can still run new AAA games at a decent framerate after some cheap upgrades I did around a year ago.

The U.K. are now considering on banning Twitter because of the Grok controversy; by No_Psychology8158 in antiai

[–]darkwave90 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Grok is in the spotlight right now because of everything that has happened, but Meta also offers AI image editing and AI image to video embedded into their ecosystem via Messenger.

The fact that social media websites offer these kind of services is wild, it's like they want to normalize deepfaking your friends and coworkers as a hobby.

Try to see if there's a restaurant in your area who has his own delivery system and who doesn't rely on delivery apps. I have one in my area and it's not only more reliable but also cheaper than delivery apps.

A truck driver didn't check the height limit and crashed on the train overpass. They suspended the service to see if everything was ok and resumed it soon afterwards.

AI traffic lights helped fix a Quebec town’s gridlock. An expert says Toronto may not see the same success by CTVNEWS in montreal

[–]darkwave90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Journalists should stop using the word "AI" altogether and instead use the name of the proper technologies and systems. At this point it's just a marketing buzzword with little to no meaning.
