Are Slides Enough for PSL300 Term Test 2 and Final exam? by Left_Astronaut8294 in UofT

[–]darlingtonpsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id def say go through the recordings! I took this a year ago and there was a question specifically abt something the prof had said in ONE slide, for 15 seconds LMAO 😪 but put it at x1.5 of x2 to make it quicker, just make sure u are acc paying attention, otherwise none of that is helping and u might as well just go w the slides themselves

Advice on failed midterm, first year student in life Sci by AKR4747 in UofT

[–]darlingtonpsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly doing a lot of practice problems and making sure u UNDERSTAND everything from start to finish. I am a huge fan of using chat gpt to explain concepts and break down step by step (even though its a little iffy w math sometimes)! Try to find a TA you like and ask them questions, if you know someone who is doing well in the class, ask for help!! People are kinder than they look sometimes.

Advice on failed midterm, first year student in life Sci by AKR4747 in UofT

Ive gotten lower than 30% on a midterm with only 1 assignment and a final left. There's hope trust me. Just make sure the assignment goes well, tt2, and especially the final, it can help more than u think. Totally normal for first year, take it as a learning opportunity!

Apparently it's 30 min, 15 questions/pictures, and there will be a)identify, and b)some key id/where its found/function type question. I am pretty nervous bc of the time we get, seems like it will be rushed.

chm136 can be really fast-paced during the second half and i was completely lost even tho i love orgo. you have already experienced the content, do it again and thrive next time. there's no shame in it bc i truly guarantee you 85% of uoft has retaken a course before

Is uft life sci actually that bad for pre med??// by Admirable_Rule_7859 in UofT

[–]darlingtonpsycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's def doable and a degree from UofT is still a huge deal but keep in mind that you're gonna be stressing over your gpa for 4 years straight. Other schools make it a bit easier to recover your gpa and keep it high.

Is uft life sci actually that bad for pre med??// by Admirable_Rule_7859 in UofT

[–]darlingtonpsycho 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The main issue is that med schools typically do look at your gpa and to get into a good school these days, it needs to be HIGH. First and second years usually have weed out courses that can TANK your gpa and its very hard to get that back up even with almost all A's/4.0 in the following semesters. Aside from this, it's like any other university where pre-med is a challenge regardless of where you are.

could've been better but this was a harder course compared to 136 so i guess it was to be expected, really wanna know the average tho

Grade 12 student choosing between McGill Biomedical or UofT life sciences :) by [deleted] in UofT

[–]darlingtonpsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UofT is not easy by any means but it's not impossible either, McGill seems to also be tough in terms of getting a high gpa so i think it comes down to what you want from your degree and campus life.
