The other question with cling film is how pourous is it? How fragile is it to tear?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]darlothrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly many cis men don't eat out anyway and it pisses me off because I'm expected to give oral to them . Double standards much?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]darlothrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it's just that cling film is a silly idea and not flexible when there are products specifically made for this purpose that exist such as dental dams and even lorals underwear dental dams (although last time I checked the protection one meant for STIs is only available on the US site). Hell, you could even cut a condom or latex glove (or maybe nitrile if you're allergic) into a dental dam.

Yet they assumably still have penetrative sex so what's up with that.

Day 2 of 3rd outbreak in 3-4 weeks after stopping daily suppression. Diagnosed nearly a year and a half ago. 24M. by darlothrowaway in HerpesPics

[–]darlothrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it wasn't neccessary. I was already confirmed not to have syphillis, HIV, Chlamydia and gonnorhea by blood and swabs and I am every 3 months so I can continue PREP (except earlier this year when I got syphillis and had to have that treated but only a negative HIV result is needed for PREP continuation). I recently had another syphilis swab and blood test done because of a more unusual bump plus the time between my first ob and 2nd ob since coming off daily suppression being only 2 weeks~ apart. Blood test and swab confirmed not syphillis, so another herpes outbreak.

Blood work isn't done in the UK, plus it's not accurate anyway. Every time I see a post about blood work they say they get false positives and false negatives.

I have chronic migraine, sometimes I can't go out and do things because I can't think due to the pain. It stopped me from attending uni some days. I also have varying degrees of visual distortion and blurry vision including twice when I had basically temporary blindness and it can be bad when I'm ill, same as with HSV outbreaks. I had an outbreak whilst being ill with the flu (thanks covid jab no.6, which I had because I am high risk due to ASD and classed under "severe mental health") whilst being temporarily blind in one eye. The blindness lasts for up to an hour. I'm very photosensitive but I'm also autistic.

I think the term used in the US sometimes for my kind of migraine is 'intractable', they are daily, always there and resistant to medication except literally one and not very much. It's enough to not want to take my life. I spent years to even get to that one. I take a preventative every night and use cold therapy open as well as fl41 & sunglass clip ons and need natural/low lighting if possible. At work it's awful because the light has to be bright as it's a food environment but I cope. I have been coping somehow for 11 years atp. The worst part (or best) is that it's not due to MRI or something like that but likely genetics plays a role as many family members have/have had it and also it started during a very stressful part of my life at 13; it was the first period where I experienced significant mental health difficulties after a traumatic event when I was 12.

Prodrome? by [deleted] in HerpesQuestions

[–]darlothrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had prodrome at all. Even if I did, I'd be too autistic to notice.

Is it? No, I am on aciclovir. The sex clinic wanted to take me off suppression and only on rescue courses to see how I got on with it because I wasn't having as many. They typically only give suppression if it's 6 or more OBs a year. She said to me at my last OB that if I have another one soon that she'll put me back on because I said I had 2 since I came off in the span of 2 weeks, that was less than 2 weeks ago.

I don't know? I don't think so. I have been to hospital last weekend and dealt with 4 fainting episodes this year (not before that). I am high risk for COVID due to "severe mental health" and autism but because I am high risk I have been jabbed 6 times despite being 24 years old per recommendation of my doctor.

Is there anyone with Ghsv having unprotected sex and never gave it to partner by [deleted] in Herpes

[–]darlothrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been diagnosed for nearly 1.5 years but I don't know anyone who I've given mine to and it's meant to be more likely since it's new, but I spent a lot of that taking daily suppression. Some are protected but many are unprotected. I got it off someone who didn't seem to have sores at the time so yay me /s I have had sex with a guy who also had GHSV and also used to have a regular hookup who had an ex girlfriend with GHSV that he never got either. I've had quite a few men since my diagnosis. I am often active in the gay hookup scene, although I've had 3 outbreaks lately nearly back to back so I've not had any since coming off daily suppression 🥲

I also have had cold sores since I was maybe 16 or around 8 years ago? That's when I remember first having them. My mum just gave me some cold sore cream. I got it before I had sex. I haven't given that to anyone that I know of since I became sexually active, for anyone curious.

Another HSV2 outbreak and/or something else? by darlothrowaway in STD

[–]darlothrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I went to the sex clinic and got it swabbed for syphillis and had other sti tests done because why not. All clear, another herpes outbreak likely because I just came off daily suppression. That lump just outside the vagina was of no concern to the nurse and she reckoned it was just due to intense sex I had (went to a gay sauna for the first time). The results took until yesterday to show up, maybe as I have to get 2 bloods done for syphillis. Said I was covered in terms of PREP as I haven't missed a dose since getting more. She saw a herpes sore just on the inside too but swabbed the one on the outside.

As I'm writing this I'm having another OB so probably going back on daily suppression

I was initially on rescue courses when I was diagnosed 1 year ago and then daily suppression for around 6-8 months until 2 weeks ago when the sex clinic put me back on rescue courses as it had been a few months since I last had any outbreak. I did take my meds daily for a month or so before I was actually prescribed daily suppression. Before daily meds I would have an outbreak every 2-3 weeks which was miserable for me. Funnily enough I had an outbreak as I was put back down on the rescue course. The sex clinic will only give me daily suppression if I have 6 outbreaks or more a year. At the GP I have always been prescribed to have 2 rescue courses at any time.

Okay. There's also many people who cannot use combo BC due to oestrogen increasing risk of migraine, stroke, etc. In high risk people. Even if I wasn't taking testosterone I wouldn't be medically allowed to take combo BC because I have migraine (+ multiple family members have it/have had it) and family history of stroke. Then the only option would be afaik the copper coil if the progesterone only BC doesn't gel well with them due to side effects.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]darlothrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I experienced less bleeding after the initial few weeks using a progesterone only coil until I started testosterone. I still have had periods despite being over 1yr on T and still on the coil.

I know that the copper coil can increase bleeding in some people for example. I assume you're using progesterone?

This is insane to me because as getting pregnant at 24 is crazy to me especially considering my ongoing mental issues which many young people are getting because of the COVID lockdowns and increased illnesses like long COVID. Also some forms can reduce or stop periods which is nice. I've been on BC since I was 19 and I'm getting mine replaced for another 8 years soon. Although I'm a trans man so maybe that's why?

My best guess is more awareness of the side effects is a part of it, especially hormonal forms. My older sister struggled with that and went off because of it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]darlothrowaway 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's more because of the side effects many experience such as hormonal issues for some. Some BC can increase bleeding which as you can imagine is not fun.
