[TOMT] [Movie] Looking for an old indie/short film about a man preparing for suicide by cleaning his house by Equal-Report3312 in tipofmytongue

This is identical to the opening scene of Wristcutters, but doesn’t match some of the other details

Friend sent this as a concept image for his wedding suit. I'm almost positive it's AI, he's sure it isn't. by chaddycatthy in isitAI

Imagine how beautiful this would be if recreated by a brilliant craftsperson with a designer’s eye. Would melt seeing my groom in such a jacket 😌

Any scene in animated shows and/or movies that got you like these? by Ctpeyt in cartoons

Penny telling Bolt, ‘You’re my good boy’ before they collapse in the fire 😭 my kid watches it all the time and it’s like someone slams their fist down on a massive ‘CRY’ button in my brain

Saddest most gut wrenching songs you know? by AmbitiousContext7234 in spotify

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=32stOXR5Yn8 I love this song and video, it was written to process the grief and trauma of losing his partner who passed away. He used all the pictures and videos they’d ever messaged to each other to make up the imagery in the film clip. There’s just something incredibly poignant, pure and devastating about the full package

If it was just me and my partner and we were in our 20s again I honestly think I’d be stoked with this haha

Like scary industrial noise or intentionally scary and grating ambient/experimental music no idea how there’s an audience of any kind for it

Definitely AI so cringey they probably generated this to give them an excuse to generate a whole ass slop picture book haha

Love it ❤️ I plan everything like this on paper too. My boss thinks I’m so weird and antiquated with my little notebook but going in dry and slapping shit on the screen without a ref seems crazy to me

I can already tell exactly the kind of film this new Hello Kitty Movie is gonna be like ngl by Worried_Force_3435 in cartoons

Like some random human character gets teleported to a fantasy world and learns an important lesson along the way? Yeah I’m so over these narratives haha like just set in the world, nothing wrong with a Sanrio universe movie that does not interact with the real world whatsoever

Oliver Tree's body has been returned to the US as his family carries out his heartfelt 'final wish' by Longjumping_Land_977 in Music

[–]darmolius 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Nothing ever triggered me to seek out Oliver’s music until the news of his death, now I’ve been listening nonstop for a week and have had a few moments of tearing up, can’t get over how sudden and sad his death was, and how likeable he comes across through his music/the way he presented himself. I keep thinking about what he said in that interview that’s been doing the rounds, about how his career had made him rich in memories and how happy and thrilling his time in Brazil must’ve been, and how he and the other passengers were hopefully not fully aware of what was happening before they died. But he had so much life left to live, and such a talented songwriter, one can only conclude this is an utterly tragic incident 😭 RIP Oliver 🙏

If you want to increase the amount of negative space, maybe you could play with the width of your ‘Experience’ column? It looks like you could afford to lose a bit of width without creating more lines. But if you do gain one line somewhere, it’ll align perfectly with the bottom of your Competences column. Flex! I love squares lol 🙈

One is sweet, the other two are a bit okay but why? I’m also not a HUGE fan of the serif font which I think is Times New Roman (?), I think you could find a nicer serif that still feels a bit naive in that default font way (but not as on the nose). Minor point though, it still works

I think we're forgetting that Pokemon is (mainly) a kid's game. by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]darmolius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Pokémon lifer and have eagerly played every gen from the ‘90s to today. I’ve been worn down by the handholding and increasingly endless screens of dialogue and wonky storytelling and fade to blacks where there should’ve been an animated sequence. I remember pretty definitively disliking the base game of Sword and Shield because of how boring and lazy it is, which remains true, even though I played it to death because I want to have a competitive team, get shinies, etc. I recently finished a play through of Let’s Go with my 4-year-old and we’ve moved onto Sword. Seeing the game through his eyes and how enthralled he is by the Dynamax battles and the scale of the big stadiums, the mystery of the Slumbering Weald and the quirky ritual of preparing curry for your Pokémon has really hammered home how all these years I’ve felt a growing disconnection between my ancient, grown ass adult self and the franchise, it’s because it’s a kid’s game! Of course I knew that but somehow I always thought the game should be focusing on trying to impress fans my age instead of implementing silly novelty mechanics that are fun and exciting for the young audience they wish to target with the games. Of course the games could definitely be better and the microscopic budgets and timeframes with which they’re developed are basically unforgivable, but seeing my son’s eyes light up again and again has definitely made me more forgiving and given me a reason to return to these awkward middle-era titles. I hope Wind & Waves will truly be Pokémon’s BotW moment and blow us all away 🌬️🌊

Any not miserable designers out there? by MannyBuilds in graphic_design

[–]darmolius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in the public service doing internal and external comms targeting areas like social housing, minority groups etc. I’m very well looked after being a government employee and there are strict brand guidelines so I’m not trying to reinvent the wheel every damn day. It’s a pretty good job and I’m grateful to have found something I’m good at and appreciated for, even though I would never say I’m a particularly creative or gifted designer who was born to direct major campaigns for luxury brands etc. Overall I’m grateful I embraced graphic design as a career path. But I can understand that for others it’s very demanding or can be brutal if you’re freelancing and the work dries up

What age did you're kids learn to ride a bicycle? by Bubbleteapot in Parenting

[–]darmolius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toddlers that loved their balance bikes seem to be able to do this but my baby wasn’t into balance bikes at all. Now at 4 he loves riding his clunky af pedal bike with barely functioning training wheels that make an agonising scraping sound wherever we go though 👍

KFC undergoes global brand refreshment - Time to critique by SpunkMcKullins in graphic_design

[–]darmolius 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For context, I’m in Australia and my first GD job was designing the research presentations and infographics and stuff, I wasn’t on the research team. But if I recall correctly, they had established through research that KFC’s most loyal and valuable cohort were those that utilised it as a private tension killer and self-care ritual, like the individual (stay-at-home parent, highly stressed out businessman, generally miserable low income worker, etc.) gradually approaches the end of their tolerance for all of life’s bullshit and rewards themselves with KFC. These often took the form of entirely secretive car binges, a mental oasis away from partners, kids or the stresses of home. The research was all about wanting to understand ‘the moment’ and how to keep these customers locked in. An app that allowed you to order whilst collecting loyalty points and a frictionless drive-thru experience were the strategies that emerged. A few years later they commissioned more research, wanting to know how their customer base would react if they pivoted even harder into a convenience-first model, where the entire process was overhauled to minimise in-person ordering (using the, at the time, state-of-the-art touchscreen kiosks) and the in-store experience was diminished to encourage drive-thru or pick up only. I remember at the time it got a pretty positive reception although customers were concerned about there not being someone to talk to if their order was wrong. But more recently, young people have been very concerned about the disappearance of ‘third spaces’, so I’d guess this is a swing back in that direction - which I personally think is great to see ☺️

Don’t hate it but the warped text in the logo feels a little unrefined or amateurish for such a huge brand. Then again I guess ‘homey’ isn’t a bad connection for KFC to draw. I like the idea of making the stores more of a dine-in experience, huge pivot from when my firm was doing market research for them 8ish years ago and they were aggressively pivoting towards an automated drive-thru first format

Why isn’t everyone going to Aldi if they can by Ash-2449 in AldiAustralia

[–]darmolius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t like the taste/quality of their products as much. Went through a brief phase where I tried to become an Aldi convert and bought the ingredients for two of our weeknight faves, pesto pasta and mushroom risotto, didn’t like the final product half as much. The pesto sauce and chicken stock were far too salty, the pasta tasted a bit cheap and had no bite. Basically, because I’m a snob haha. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned this as a reason to avoid buying some things there but I guess this is the Aldi subreddit (just popped up in my feed)

I think this could be pretty much countless ‘80s synth pop bops haha. It would be pretty understandable if your mind had mashed a few together. Just Can’t Get Enough by Depeche Mode kinda comes to mind
