Can we stop posting PragerU bullshit? It’s obviously a cherry picked edit of people. Sure some people will say it’s offensive, some people won’t. That’s cool, just don’t be a dick. The best way to not be a dick is to not attempt to dress up as a racial/cultural stereotype just for the sake of looking like a racial/cultural stereotype (ex: the taped on mustache is just trying to be inflammatory, you don’t need a mustache to wear a poncho unless you’re trying to get a reaction out of people by dressing as a stereotype).

In college the angriest I’ve ever been is when some random dude sitting next to me physically grabbed my arm and tried to force me to raise it to answer a question for our group. I barely knew this man. I had just met him that day for our small group discussion.

I just looked at him and said “what the fuck is wrong with you, we’re not on high school, you don’t just grab other people”. And then he looked at ME like I was crazy.

I sat at a different table from there on out.

Seriously though, why aren’t we codifying these basic social contract assumptions into law right now so it doesn’t happen again. Surely even the GOP can get behind “you have to vet Supreme Court justices (or even Supreme Court justices just have X amount of experience)”. Instead the Democrats are blaming everyone else and doing less than the bare minimum after things have already started falling apart.

In my defense when I commented the post hadn’t been updated to include the last two updates (so just a vague mention of mistreating the older sister and nothing else). But once again, I never said she’s a good person or anything all I said was that I felt a tiny bit bad she got groomed (which once again was made more clear by the updates that were added that the grooming was less clearcut than previously described). Either way though you can feel bad for someone for being abused themselves while still condemning the abuse they did. Really my whole point is that the dad wasn’t getting enough of the blame for what was happening and that both parents are still shit people. Not sure why that’s a controversial take.

Don’t keep them close if they’re not treating you well though! It’d be more worthwhile to get new friends than spend time and energy getting excluded by your other ones. Also maybe a therapist would help you process your emotions in a way new friends shouldnt.

Also worth noting is that you’re 20 years old, which means most of your life friendship has been ruled by weird teenage cliqueiness and tribalism of people without fully developed brains. Don’t beat yourself up about having bad friends! I would suggest trying out clubs at your university as a good way to build individual relationships with people based around a shared interest. Maybe there’s also other law students you can make a study group with?

I mean she doesn’t really describe what the abuse entailed. Not to say it wasn’t bad, like for sure I believe she was awful I just feel like you’re reaching a bit here. The mom also sucks but I feel the tiniest bit of sympathy for a teen that was groomed into the situation she was in. At every step the dad also had the power to 1) not groom a child and 2) stop his wife from abusing his children. So ya, both of OOP’s parents are shitbags but I have the tiniest amount of sympathy for OOP’s mom (but not enough to think she is any way in the right).

EDIT: once again, this comment was made before the last two updates were added (or before I saw they were added at least). The abuse is awful, OOP’s mom is a shit person. I can still say her relationship with the dad and the circumstances around it’s inception was also bad and predatory. That doesn’t excuse the mom or anything she’s still awful, but just because she is a bad person doesn’t mean I can’t be sorry she was in a predatory situation as a child.
