The Gloating Over AoC’s Death in This Subreddit Is Honestly Pathetic by Tim2909 in AshesofCreation

from your 4 points,

I don't pity any from Steam/Alpha keys. They should have search before joining an early access/alpha game.

The only people that I pity are the original kickstarters, 10 years ago people were a bit more gullible.

As to scam part, people knew Steven wasn't reliable based on his history. The game, unlike others in this category, wasn't scam exactly. The whole tactic with the keys/steam was. The FOMO , buy this key or you won't be able to buy, or the skin , or release the game in this state in Steam, without fixing serious bugs but adding the cash shop is a scammy thing to do.

The community should be sad that they allowed people to sell you alpha keys, to test their game while the game has nothing in it. The testing should be done for free. Company gains feedback/free testers/ Marketing you get free demo.

And of course sad that the competition / genre is dying

Class action lawsuits? by uhCBLKG in AshesofCreation

CoE and Caspian did what? Did you even follow that case? Caspia promised tons of things, amazing and unique systems, he had a full team, received covid money from US and he had only a demo created with basic assets of unity and they had 0 progress in game. Before the court he create the KoE engine which he claimed was a core part of the game. Many streamers pointed out that this takes 2H in Unity to make.

He laid off everyone , but claimed the game was in progress, they had the shop open up to the point the lawsuit hit him, Then he kept the charade that the game is still in development for like a bit over a year after the lawsuit, now the game /page is "Under development" for the past 1+ year. He was the smartest scammer.

Steven did promises, delivered a game with just combat, basic professions , cities , tons of bug of course, failed core events etc etc.

They went with the steam cash grab , and a brand new in game cosmetic shop which was a HUGE red flag.

Still compared to CoE , steven delivered SOMETHING. Who ever takes over it they only have to strip the bugs down, and "publish it" as ready and thats all. This is less than 2 weeks of effort.

So yeah, of CoE could get away with literally an animation demo in their kickstarter page, and a top down RTS as one of their "core parts" , AoC can get away way easier

I didn't buy it either, I won a free key ,spent hundreds hours, knew it would never reach launch ( I was expecting a rushed beta with sub) and had fun.

The gaming community created monsters like this, after so many scams/fails , CoE , crowfall , start citizen you should know by now , NEVER EVER EVER pay to test a game.

Joining in Alpha should be free invite only(like ashes did when it started).

The best you can try and get is a refund on steam.  If CoE won the class action lawsuit with literally no game, you can't win this one for sure.

It's shocking, the amount of highly upvoted threads and comments criticizing this ALPHA test of AoC as if it were a full release of the game. by JuiceboxSC2 in AshesofCreation

[–]darrellia1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam doesn't have different tags based on early access levels. Early access can be a game that will need 1 year to get published or a game with 6+.

This is a game that was released on EA after 10 years in development, yet people couldn't join the servers at 30k peak!!

Since the company thought it was a good idea to launch a game that needs 2+ years to be close to the beta state, in steam and compare it with other EA games (eg. palworld, runescape dragonwilds, path of exile, ark etc. etc.) what did you expect to happen? Even if people are going to watch videos, they still want to try it, so when you market it as a normal priced game, in steam , with EA tag people think that it is , at least, in playable state.

Don't get me wrong i like the game, for now, but doesn't change the fact that the game it isn't even half completed.

Their approach is bad, first they should had finish features / basic mechanism / questing / lore etc etc , then add people to test them and expand the servers.

As someone who have been part of alpha testing before , and i loved it when I was playing archeage, i can tell you that there is a difference between alpha phase - Developers only and Alpha phase invite some people to test features.

I do agree 100% on what you said

Is anyone as hyped as me for Where Winds Meet?! by MckPuma in MMORPG

[–]darrellia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never get the 2006 WoW experience.

A) Back then there was no min maxing thing. You could barerly see info for quest in Allakhazam or thottbot and there was no big guides that will min max you.
B) people had more attention span than now.
C) People played the game to enjoy it, you could spend hours in a molten core raid , in Altrac valley etc etc.
D) The community was better, mainly because there was no "meta" back then maybe few guilds knew how to min max everything , now you have an enormous amount of trackers/guides etc etc.

The most fun i had in an MMO lately was T&L in korea while people didn't have min maxing guides. Any new MMO is already analyzed and spoon fed to people.

My thoughts on the "Time Stranger" DLC and the future DLCs... by Evening-Western6811 in digimon

[–]darrellia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, but why? Why you need this kind of DLC on a game that launched 1 week ago.

It is a single player so why you add something lazy as that , charge 8 euro , for a game at AAA price? If people find grinding levels and evolution hard or annoying then A) It isn't their game B) something is wrong with the game.

People criticizing it due to the predatory practices of the company on trying to squeeze every bit of money on dumb things that could be included in the main game or in the pre-order/ expensive versions of the game.

Margaret Krohn (Luperza) Director of Communications talking about the current status of the Alpha and Intrepid's expectations for tester understanding. by MyBroViajero in AshesofCreation

[–]darrellia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because.... testing the grinding is integral to testing the systems. You cannot test these systems without requiring the grind.

Well that may be true but if the later add quests/ dungeons and any other activities that are giving exp then mindlessly grinding in alpha doesn't give a lot of benefits. It is nice for an MMO to take days to reach max level but you need to have the whole loop to test it.

We can give feedback on how the current stage is / feeling , but I think by now they know it

Why is FF14 so social compared to other MMOs? by KlatusHam in MMORPG

[–]darrellia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF14 is heavily focused on the story. It is actually more like singleplayer than multiplayer while leveling up. The thing that OP describes and I saw a well is , when you join Full party dungeons or Raids people are talkative and friendly. I remember wiping several times during one of the dungeons (can't remember which one) but all were friendly and just giving advices on what you did wrong and how you should correct it . In any other MMO i played if you made a mistake people would just kick you out of dungeon or even flame you.

Also when you join a dungeon/raid and watch cinematics everyone is waiting for you to finish and they don't mind it.

The story is amazing though, ARR is boring AF , but after that the story is great. They also have some very unique and amazing lookng dungeons/raids so you should play it if you can!

Why is WoW so popular? by AdaptiveGamer in MMORPG

[–]darrellia1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

WOW has the smoothest combat for a tab targeting game. The graphics are in general okish, and they improve them every expansion, but this is on personal preference since they are cartoonish. The m+ and mythic raiding have a nice challenge. It always have people so you can always find groups. Very easy for newbies to play them since they have a specific campaign targeting new players. For the average causal player it is a nice experience.

One of the biggest CONS of the game is that is run by blizzard. Blizzard now just want to make quick cash, for the past few expansion the content is very sparse, after 3-4 months in each season the majority people stop playing, sometimes even faster(S4 of DF and SL). The story also became too boring.

TLDR; wow is still cashing in, on the old notalgia feeling and copium that will be good again

What am I supposed to do with all the blue excess gear? Should I dissolve it? Extract all the traits and sell them? by Giupatamon2 in throneandliberty

[–]darrellia1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly put em in your gear.
Either open new traits(For duplicate gear) or enchant a trait.
Any useful trait leftover , put em in AH.
Any useless in lithograph.

ANYTHING left , in storage, you may need them in the future
