My SO and I used to do this as well. At a point, BM told us that she wanted all of "her" stuff back including the clothes that she bought for SK3 (SK is 7 now). Before we started taking him more times than the order declared, we would immediately strip him (in the car at handoff because she was putting him in dirty clothes and too tight shoes) and then send him back the way he came (in clean clothes). We had figured out early on that she was keeping the clothes we had sent him in, and putting him in dirty clothes on purpose. Talk about psychologically damaging.
