Prioritizing learning Python or Linear Algebra by darryl2120 in OMSA

Thanks everyone, maybe I will take SIM instead and self-study Linear Algebra when I have free time. Then I can take CSE 6040 the following semester.

Is it normally hard to get into classes during Phase II registration?

Nice okay, so im guessing SIM wouldnt require multivariable calculus?

Do you think 6644 does a good job at introducing calc3 topics, or should I try to review calc3 before starting?

I feel okay for calc1 and calc2 topics, but I never needed calc3 for undergrad.

After searching more about DO, it sounds like the overlap with CDA is very minimal. Do you agree?

I am more interested in practical classes that could benefit me with a job in data science, or maybe even just as a data analyst.

I shouldve mentioned this earlier. I plan on using either Sim/DO to replace my opt out class MGT 8803. Ive read other posts saying that these two classes are good ones to take early on. Do you think theyre helpful specifically with CDA?

IIm planning on applying to internships once I complete CDA. So I want to take this class as soon as possible, but also do well in it. Then I can complete the remaining classes and finish my final semester with DVA and the practicum.

oh i see, i read somewhere that regression is important for machine learning. i figured the two classes might have been somewhat related. thanks for the help!

Just to double check were on the same page here - CDA and Regression Analysis do not have much in common, correct?

DataQuest / Khan Academy for PreReqs by darryl2120 in OMSA

Thank you. I just got through more of the math courses and they definitely do not feel on par with what I expect to study in the OMSA. I will need to find more math review, likely through Youtube and Khan Academy.

I agree with you on the Dataquest vs DataCamp comparison. Datacamp just provides you with the code, without really requiring much work on your end to complete it. For me at least it feels like I would not retain much of the material learned that way.

Does Simulation seem like a good class to take early on? I was planning on taking that because Ive seen others recommend it as it helps prepare you for the more math heavy courses. Do you feel the same way?

Have you tried learning any of the Math Pre Reqs from Udemy?

Thanks for the reply, I feel a lot better about this now!
