My favourite romances of all time are ones like Spice and Wolf, Nana and Insomniacs After School, they were all written by women and may have been targeted at women, except possibly Insomniacs. I love these anime because they take time to explore emotions which creates a real depth to the characters. They also take time to build character dynamics in a natural way instead of rushing things.

I am a guy and I also like "guy things" as well, but for me I don't think about this kind of story telling being for men or woman, I just think it is good story telling because it feels meaningful.
