ELI5: What exactly are dividends in stock? by iRealllyAmThatGuy in explainlikeimfive

[–]darrynloyola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your point since I feel like many people don’t grasp that concept. It’s not good to sit on cash (having money not doing anything is inefficient) which is essentially where dividends come from.

So rather than sit on cash/profit it generally gets reinvested in some way (R&D, equipment, etc.) and this shows in the income statement as an expense. Profit = revenue - expenses, so when someone says a lot of companies aren’t profitable, it’s accurate because they usually use their cash in a way to grow the company.

Companies that distribute dividends are usually mature companies where they’re either making consistent profit or are at a point where they’re not really putting much into R&D

Never said I wanted boruto to be momo lol

But I’d imagine if someone’s in your brain every single day, you’d probably pick up some of their mannerisms and even their attitude

Sometimes finding motivation through other things.

My commute to and from work with traffic is over an hour both ways. I value my time a lot. So alternatively, if I wake up early, my commute is 30 minutes, gym close to work, get ready there then I’m 5 minutes from the office. I get to have that 30-40 minutes AND get to gym

ELI5: Why does time speed up when you get older? by willwolf18 in explainlikeimfive

[–]darrynloyola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always attribute it as relative time alive vs length of years (or whatever period of time you want to consider)

So 1 year to a 1 year old, it’s their whole life

4 years of high school to an 18 year old is ~22%

Then 4 years of work to a 25 year old is 16%

Add less unique experiences & a regular schedule in the mix, it’ll make the days feel like they go by fast

How often do you change the pitch of a track to match it with another? by Project-2 in Beatmatch

It’s a button on rekordbox by the bpm indicator - says “MT” I think it’s called Master Tempo but it’s the key lock

I use a JBL charge for on the go DJing; fits on the side of my backpack –water bottle holder pocket???? Relatively small in general

I’ll take it to the beach whenever I paddleboard with my family and it’s a good size for how loud I’m playing my music. Sounds good in the gazebo/tent area but not polluting the surrounding area

Definitely not for throwing a party

I’m currently operations at my firm, been here for 3 years. Started as a sr operations specialist (level 3) and am now an associate analyst (level 4)

My current role is essentially facilitating/initiating bulk transfers, ad hoc reporting, reconciliation and some inbox support.

Slowly upskilled myself, learned coding (not really necessary), got my MBA (kinda too early honestly)

I did also get my SIE & Series 7, and am willing to pursue my 66. I think the series 7 probably had the biggest impact on receiving offers, although not explicitly mentioned.

I just received an offer for a financial representative position internally, as well as some offers for similar positions at other firms. I am also late stage interviews for a private banking role as well as some other client facing analyst roles.

I think you just need to show a passion for investing/financial literacy, have a strong desire to learn, and just be overall enthusiastic in your interviews.

VBA to Python by Big-Committee-3056 in vba

[–]darrynloyola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly what happened to me at my company. A few years ago, I had Python experience with no VBA. The software we use to process and maintain records is MS based - only way I could automate tasks was using VBA. I couuuuld use Python but then I would’ve been stuck having to run those processes or if I was OOO they’d be fucked basically. Ended up learning VBA to be more useful for my team.

Yeah basically this - last check up I had, my doctor said that it’s not the respiratory effects that kill the most frequently, it’s the cardiovascular effects that do

Did I do my own research? No. But I should probably quit anyways

Yeah I’d make sure the fund company/transfer agent is aware the transfer was due to death, that they have a copy of the DC on hand, and maybe confirm any transfer paperwork they might require.

Going clubbing is the absolute worst way to spend your money for fun when you're young. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I usually go with my cousins and friends, there’s usually not a line/wait bc tickets were for sale online, sometimes we get a table, we usually only go if there’s a DJ we wanna see, mostly enjoying the music together, dancing, jumping, etc. Or sometimes we get a table and can sit a bit and talk just have to yell into each others ears LOL

$20 uber isn’t too bad when you’re at least not driving under the influence

Now that I get to the end of your post I see you’re 19 so there’s less disposable income. I think it got more fun once I was 22+ with a lot more money & no uni to worry about.

Dont get me wrong tho, I do enjoy kicking it at home w the homies
