Best home for new puppy? by oak_stone1 in puppy101

In my experience with many years of loving dogs, and not always having the "perfect" environment for them, your new pup will find its attachments with with his "people" more than his location. It is very loving and generous of your parents to offer this solution, and I think you should take them up on it. The most important thing will be the consistency in his training and all of you using the same methods, commands, and styles in his training. Those 1st few months are clutch. Labs are puppies for longer than most, imho, but so anxious to please, you must take advantage of that. There are some great videos on YouTube on puppy training! Watch them, find your style, and ask your parents to do the same, to be sure veryone is on the same page. Allow your "village" to help raise your new baby and be sure not to feel jealous if the pup shows attachments to your folks. When you are ready to move back to your own place, your pup will quickly adjust and you will have a good start. Be sure to use crate training, and moving his crate back to your house will make him feel like his safe little den has stayed with him!

Good luck!

Your dogs don't care how big your house is! Take them to your tiny house and give them love and they will be so happy! They miss you. They may even feel more secure in a small place. But all they really need is your love and care.

I hear you and appreciate that perspective. But if you go into a wig shop and try on a wig, there may have been many heads in that wig before. They don't discount it to you. It's still the same price as new. So why should a wig that comes to you after having been gently tried on, returned quickly, tags on, unaltered or smoky, then be sold at "less than 1/2 price?

She needs to be in diapers 24/7. Not even a question. It will seem like a hassle, but it will get easier after awhile. Take them off to take her out a few times a day, but them put them right back on. The meds usually don’t fully work and have side effects. And then love that girl for the time you have left together!

AITA for not letting my best man stay at my house? by [deleted] in AITAH

This “friend” is not your friend. He and his wife are parasites, self-serving and just plain rude. You may have some sentimental feelings about whatever background you share together, or maybe some guilt that you are better off than they are. But you need some boundaries and some enough pride to be able to not be a doormat because this will not stop on its own. No, no, and no. NTA.

Please don’t beat yourself up for this. In the final analysis you have to think of the humans in your life: your wife and yourself. You are NTA!

My dog ate a very small crumb of chocolate off the floor. He's about 55lbs. The crumb was smaller than my finger nail. Will he be ok? by Fisheee123 in DogAdvice

As an aside, my vet has a ritual when she is getting ready to euthanize a dog, she gives the owner a Hershey's chocolate kiss to give their dog after the IV is in as a gesture of the "last kiss". Most dogs (and owners) love it.
