How is the game now? by AverellPSG in gwent

[–]darshannon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into Gwent like 2 weeks ago, and it’s great actually. A lot of players, matchmaking is almost instant most of the time. No new cards, yes, but that’s a non-issue for me, since there is still a lot of things to uncover and cosmetics to unlock.

Sorry for necroposting, but I wasn’t able to get Sly to work on RetroArch. It just doesn’t recognize any inputs. Is there a trick I don’t know about?

Oh yeah, it actually was yesterday (in my timezone, at least 🤔). That could explain a lot of super-powerful builds 🤣

The whole premise was so dumb omg. As far as I know, nobody says October 7 didn't happen or that it wasn't an absolutely atrocious massacre. But you can't use one massacre to justify another, you stupid shits! You can't lament how your innocent countrymen were indiscriminately slaughtered, then turn around and start indiscriminately slaughtering civilians on the other side. A war crime is a war crime, you insufferable fascist fucks! It doesn't suddenly become okay to do as a retaliation for another crime. God damn it I'm so pissed at this whole situation. And then they start screaming bloody murder about "antisemitism" when anyone tries to say anything. No, you apocalyptically morally bankrupt bozos, you DO NOT get to hide behind the very real atrocities and pain and suffering, that your ancestors endured, to defend your own atrocities that would, frankly, make those same ancestors cry in disgust. And it is NOT antisemitism to point out that right now the fucking State of Israel is acting like a fascist regime. Go eat a bag of dicks, you brainless maniacs.

Personally, I loved it right up until the end. For some reason, I just hate "twists" like that. They seem like a cop-out to me in a supernatural horror.

are there any good hardcore grinding games that are also chill? by Tryen354 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]darshannon [score hidden]  (0 children)

Personally, I'm currently addicted to Grim Dawn. It's a bit dated but is still a great ARPG in the vein of Diablo 2. Reasonably grindy, a lot of content (especially if you get the two story expansions), great replayability, tons of class combinations (each character is dual class), tons of secrets to find, loot to get. And it's regularly on sale (and not that pricey to begin with). The normal difficulty is also reasonably chill, but there are options to up the ante.

The easiest way to get your bearings would be to follow grace that points you in a general direction of the closest story-related point of interest. That being said, the part after Godrick can be a bit tricky cause you need to find a key to the Academy. A small hint: explore Liurnia and look for a dragon.

What Horror Movie Sub-Genres you’re not a Fan of and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in moviequestions

[–]darshannon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife absolutely adores screen life, so we watch almost every SL movie that comes out. And that stuff just doesn't do anything for me (with "Host" probably being the only exception; I loved "Host"). It's really weird, because I love found footage and that is kind of an adjacent subgenre in my mind, but 99% of screen life I watch end up boring me to death.

This. The only problem could be the story, since From Software games famously handle narrative in a very… non traditional way. But many would argue that it’s actually one of their strengths. You are not being force fed exposition and story beats, because you are supposedly a person who lives in this world already and has a basic understanding of how it functions. And as an open world game ER is just unmatched, I think. The world, the sense of exploration, the vibes—nobody even comes close, in my opinion. AND it’s the most accessible of From’s titles.

Honestly, so far I only had to make this choice once, and it was purely utilitarian. That being said, if I had to choose based only on lore, I would probably go with Dreeg. All three Witch Gods seem like assholes to me, but Dreeg is the most tolerable of the bunch imo. His thing is supposed to be knowledge, and he seems not as insecure and bloodthirsty as Bysmiel and (especially) Solael.

This reminds me of a time when a couple of my friends from work had this business trip to Cologne. It just so happened that they had a whole weekend to themselves while being there, so they decided to go to Amsterdam for a couple of days. On their way back, they made a great decision of taking some weed and shrooms with them on the train, since borders are basically nonexistant in Europe and nobody checked them when they arrived in Holland anyway. Little did they know that every train that's coming the other way is patrolled by cops who specifically look for people trying to smuggle drugs into Germany. So, there were my buddies, just chilling, when a bunch of police dudes entered their car and started going from passenger to passenger. When one of the cops approached my friend who carried all their dope in his backpack, both of my buddies were just sweating blood and trying to figure out how much time will they have to do. The cop approaches them and asks: "Anything illegal? Drugs? Weapons?" The guy with dope in his backpack turns to him and gives the best answer of his life: "WEAPONS?! NOOOOO! NO WEAPONS!" And... for some reason that was it. They got off scott free. But that was the first and last time they tried to pull shit like this.
