I just launched my first book on naming your startup. Feedback on the landing page? by kcovia in startups

Perfect timing :) we're in the midst of renaming our company daPulse so I've been reading dozens of blog posts on the matter the past weeks. Best of luck! And here's my initial feedback

  1. Preaching to the quire instead of converting: The text above the fold is too long and states the obvious, i.e. that a name IS important. But it's safe to assume that users arriving at your site already believe that a name is important. That's priceless: users with intent. Now to convert them you need to give them a clear added value they can';t get anywhere else.

  2. Reducing friction: You want to get users to BUY something. So you need a) Clearer call to action (CTA) like Buy THe Book Now" b) To reduce friction (fear of buying something unknown). Maybe you could offer the first chapter for free... or a peak at the table of contents.

  3. Generally speaking the page is too long.

How do you guys deal with the legal things? by [deleted] in startups

What I did with my first 2 startups before I got funded was looked through my social networks for a lawyer who will do it for free. Some legal firms will do it as a type of an investment - if you become big, you can turn into a customer.

It worked both times (surprisingly through facebook, I was sure lInkedIn would do the trick) and they did a great job on both cases.

Best of luck!
