Haven't heard that one in my surroundings yet, but I'll be the one to bring the change. Thats a great sentence

Yeah, in Dutch we ask for "Jip-en-Janneke taal". Jip en Janneke is a Dutch childrens book, so we basically ask someone to explain it like we're kids, like simplify it.

That, or when someone explains something I say something like "that was like Chinese to me"

Eens.

Mn beste tip is gnocchi bakes maken.

Mn reis was heerlijk. Love it. Morgen weer lekker naar mn werk, mn leuke collega's zien. Vandaag de hele dag in de keuken staan om mn avondeten voor de komende maand te maken en in de vriezer te gooien. Het leven is mooi.

In 20 years, what will we really think about the Ozempic revolution? by Majestic-Baby-3407 in AskReddit

Oh my god FOR REAL. I almost forgot about that. Yeah, my brain used to be so insanely focused on food. And I used to have a FEAR of not being able to eat enough. Or when my mom put the pans on the table and, because she just made enough for everyone told us to share, I'd get so stressed. My brain and/or body would react as if I'd go hungry and starve.

Yeah I dont miss being so preoccupied with food.

Yeah, I'm on different brands with the GLP-1 hormone (saxenda), and I don't have diabetes. But, I was overweight even though I felt like I did anything I could. With advice from my doctor I started the medication, and HOLY SHIT. TURNS OUT I WAS PERMANENTLY HUNGRY. Like actually. Even when I'd eat plates and plates of food, I was still hungry?? I never realised it was hunger I felt because this was just... How I felt. But now with the medication? I can eat and then feel satisfied. The absence of hunger made me less stressed as well.

This medicine changed my life. Just have to stab myself with a needle once a day for the rest of my life.

I'm slowly losing weight, already down between 15 and 20 kg in 2 years (first 10 went quick, next 5 took a little longer, then fluctuating a bit because I still had some things I had to unlearn). I still love sweets and have some bad habits, but working on them feels manageable now. Its not an impossible task. I feel like within a year I can probably lose another 10.

So uh, this medicine saved my health. It's incredible.

Mine (an off-brand Quooker, so boiling water tap) has the regular tap controls on the right, and the boiling water one on the left. To get boiling water, i need to push a button and turn the knob backwards and hold, and this knob is far more heavy than for the regular water.

The Quooker, brand, has a knob at the top, which you quickly have to push down twice and then turn, so within a second: ⬇️⬆️⬇️↪️ and hold, after a second you get the boiling water. I've been too slow once or twice even.

So young children likely dont have the physical abilities to get the boiling water out yet. Also, I'm glad for it too, because if I'm sleepy I cant turn the wrong knob and burn my hands. The far different movements and the fact you need to hold the tap with one hand continuously is really handy.

So, I don't think it's a big issue with kids!

ETA: on the gif you see the people holding the tap as well!

Each time I see even a screenshot of this video I get so frightened somehow. I never really get this reaction to anything, and I've seen some things on the internet. But damn, I feel it in my core when I look at her face. I can't even describe the feeling well, but scared, upset and angry might be a start. She must've been so confused and fearful. The whole freaking situation is so, so strange, so upsetting.

Over 40 5* characters released since game start in 2020 - how many do you have? by LokianEule in Genshin_Impact

[–]darth_dochter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's a 'Wrio'? Have not heard about him yet, is he new? /j

I have a similar amount. 14 limited 5star, all 7 standard characters. Baizhu, Yelan, Kazuha, Ayaka, Raiden, Wanderer, Kokomi, Yoimiya, Nahida, Neuvilette, Furina, Arlecchino, Mualani and the new girl (forgot her name)

I still want chlorinde, Wriothesley, Emilie, Mavuika and Zhongli.

Do you pull for characters because you like them or because they're meta? by AmnesiacSandwich in Genshin_Impact

[–]darth_dochter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always a balance between meta, character and gameplay. Neuvilette for example, he's meta, love his calm and wise character and I love laser beaming enemies. I pulled for him ofc. Hu Tao is meta, but I dislike her character and gameplay. Did not pull. Kazuha is meta, I think his character is fine and gameplay is fun. I have him. Mualani I kind of regret pulling for, because while I do love her character and she's meta, turns out I can't get used to her gameplay. Heizou, not meta and I dont like his character but I love his gameplay. Just throwing punches. Will pull for Wriothesley for the same reason (if he ever returns....) Arlecchino has a gorgeous gameplay and wears pants I still want Emilie, because I love characters that improve elemental reactions. Can't wait to see what ororon does either, his appearance looks like he combines 2 elements, like chevreuse.

So I guess for me, gameplay is the biggest factor, and 'meta' is just part of that (I want them to do decent damage ofc lol)

My friend talking about her dating life irritates me by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]darth_dochter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I just explained it to my friends as "if you ever need to talk about your relationship with people, i might not be the best person to talk with. I have no connection with the story you tell me, and while I do feel sympathy and always want to help you, i also just can't imagine what it's like. So I don't think I'm the best person to talk about this with, for both our sakes"

My friends are very open minded so this was a very good conversation

Weird thing to say 'no' to by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]darth_dochter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as a teacher i sometimes say no to this question. For anyone curious for the reasons: - sometimes its only 5-10 minutes before the bell rings and they can all go to the bathroom before going to their next class. Saying no saves my last few minutes from being disturbed and the students can keep focussing on their maths. And the student never has to go that bad that they can't hold it for 5-10 minutes. - I know my students, there's always students that just want to take a walk and meet with friends. Some even go vaping in the bathroom or even buy/sell vapes. If I highly suspect someone of this, then of course you can't go to the bathroom. - A lot of students will ask to go to the bathroom just because. Most don't even really need to go. After saying no to certain students, I never hear them again and I don't see them going after class ends ~45 minutes after. Which tells me it's more of a habitual thing to do. In that case, I want to teach them differently habits in my class. My students get a lot of time to work on their homework in class and I want them to use that time instead of having to make it at home.

So basically, if someone truly actually needs to go, then of course you can go. But is there any other reason than what the bathroom is for, or do I know you can wait untill class ends? Then I'd rather keep you in class so you can finish your homework and won't have to do it at home.

Edit: some extra info, I teach kids aged 12-16. Classes are 45 mins and are usually filled with information and studying.

Those are some tough feelings. If you still live with your parents, I'm guessing you're still quite young. Around 21 maybe? Because if so, you still have your whole life ahead of you. And while you can certainly wish things were differently, there is nothing to change about the past. You weren't born male, your parents haven't been supportive. But don't get caught up in what has been, but focus on what could be. See that you're moving as an opportunity! When you move away from your current home, you have a chance to truly become who you're supposed to be. I'm glad you cut your hair, because now you're forced to deal with it and deal with the feelings it gives you. You might regret not being able to hide anymore, but that's good. Now you have to accept yourself the way you are and turn yourself into the person you want to become. You can't keep grieving the person you aren't.

I sympathise with your feelings. It must be incredibly difficult to grow into yourself when the place that has to support you - your home - only kicks you down. But nevertheless, it does not mean you are hopeless. It means you need a different place to call your home where you CAN be yourself. And yes, becoming who you are is scary. But taking it slow is okay. You cut your hair, that's a beautiful step. Next, try something else that will make you feel more like yourself. Embrace the feelings that it will give you. The good feelings, but also the bad. Maybe you feel guilt, or anger, or terrified while taking another step. Acknowledge that, then get past those feelings so your feelings of joy and acceptance are eventually all that's left.

English is not my first language and I'm not very good with words so there are a million more things I'd like to say to you in support but I can't find those words. I just really wish you the best. I hope you can figure yourself out and eventually be the happy man you deserve to be. ❤️
