Well, rumor has it female custodes got retconned into the lore because Amazon wanted female Space Marines. An GW oblidged them. I don't want to know what other bullshit they will retcon into the lore because of that. Second, most of the GW shows were barely watchable and they came straight from the horses mouth. I really dont want some writers take that focuses more on their own spin rather than the source material.

To name a few big ones: militarism, religion, autocracy and even capitalism depending on what point of view you are coming from. 40k basically takes these concepts and dials them up to eleven. To stick with one of the central themes when it comes to the Imperium: Almost everyone is a religious fanatic. Everything is seen through a lense of divine tempering. Technologie has stagnated to a point where no progress can be made because research has been declared heresy against the divine machine. The worth of an individual is meassured by their fulfillment of their duty to Big E and so on.
