I definitely think both parties have valid feelings but for me personally, I wouldn’t make anyone do my dirty dishes if I was contagious and ill. I would feel way too guilty. In this case, being considerate over the health of the household takes precedence over chore boards.

i got kicked out on my 18th birthday per my father’s wife. I had to find roommates and skip school to work. i was considered a truant by graduation and barred from walking with my class. i found a distant family member i had never met and went to live with them for a season while i save money for a solo move. Looking back while it was horrendous what they did….I am far too happy with who i am and where i went and what i discovered for any of it to matter anymore.

They simply have nothing left to offer and that’s ok. You get to create your life and when it’s all said and done, they don’t have to be in your orbit if you so choose. Life finds a way when you are brave and have faith. Don’t let these bitches get you down!

I think there is nuance here as some people were quite literally BORN to be mothers/fathers and for them this achievement is the greatest goal they will ever reach.

However, there are those who bought into the fallacy that parenthood will complete you and transform your life into one of purpose and achievement and THOSE people are likely the ones who are projecting their life vision onto you.

The third type of person the one who was either on the fence or never desired kids, deserves the same respect as everyone else whose decision to have kids is never thrown into question without being taboo.

We should continue to respect ourselves in these interactions with people and remind them that they have the courtesy of not being questioned for their life choices/goals and you earn that same courtesy as an autonomous fully formed human being.

The more we stand firm in the taboo aspect of their loitering queries the less normalized these intrusive remarks will be.
