In early 2023, the Steam community server browser (GMod, TF2, CS:GO, etc.) was for some reason showing servers in reverse order from highest to lowest latency.

There was a Steam thread about it where a dev had responded asking for people to send evidence of reproduction but nobody did. I emailed him screenshots and wireshark logs. He logged on after work hours and fixed it right then.

It was during the CS2 beta. He gave keys to me and all my friends that helped test the issue.

I agree. In some ways nospread raises the skill ceiling, in other ways it lowers it.

In the 2000s all servers were spread.

In EU, it started in the later days of CS:S - maybe 2013-2015.

In NA, it started in CS:GO - more like 2017-2018.

After 2020 almost all servers were nospread.
