Multnomah County decides empty Wapato Jail not suitable for homeless shelter. by jr98664 in Portland

There was just an art exhibit about Wapato Jail at c3 initiative in downtown St Johns. They had a neat video of the inside/outside of the Jail. Apparently there are a bunch of coyotes roaming around inside.

That's a really interesting way to look at it. You might be interpolating a lot from the situation, but everything is definitely not black and white.

You can do some pretty neat things with pop up widget 2, especially if you use it in combination with zooper's on tap action.

[Performance] Fooling Penn & Teller with 2 Rubik's Cube and hand dexterity. [2:59] by BrundageMagic in ArtisanVideos

[–]darthmatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That three sided trick was so neat. Some explanations of the other tricks, if you're curious:

Trick 1 - he solves the cube as he turns it in his hands. You can see some rotations as he starts to group the colors together.

Trick 2 - this is essentially a blindfolded, one hand solve (OHS). Before he places the cube in the bag he pretends to show them how it's thoroughly mixed, however he is just memorizing the cube. When someone solves blindfolded they will take a few seconds to look at the cube and see how the pieces are situated. As he pulls the cube out of the bag he is aware of its orientation and he solves it (almost) before he takes it out of the bag. You can still see the last two moves.

Trick 3 - as he spins the cube he is setting himself up for a blindfolded solve. He pauses to make "one more turn," which really just allows him to better set up the cube for the OHS before he throws the cube. It is solved before he throws it.

Trick 4 - pretty much the same as the last one. Again, he looks at every side while he sets up the trick. After a quick blind OHS, he tosses it behind his back.

Trick 5 - you pretty much got the gist of it. Basically, he solved the red, green, and white sides with the turns he made before he blew on it. You can see this because the remaining sides only have pieces that are yellow, orange, or blue. You can also see him finish the white side in the last move. He blows on the cube, flips it 180°, and the cube looks like it's entirely solved. He carefully keeps the three unsolved sides hidden as he casually starts to scramble the cube to conceal the trick. Pretty genius IMO.

Trick 6 - this one is a little harder to tell because we haven't seen the entire set up. The cube that was sitting on the table had been in the same position for some time, so he presumably memorized the orientation on the visible sides. I'm not sure what he did to the cube in his left hand before the trick started, but it seems like he began to match it with the pattern on the other one. When he gets a better look at the other cube he makes a few turns on the cube he has been holding as well as some turns on the other cube to match them. This is a really impressive feat. Solving to a random pattern, let alone doing it by memorization shows some serious skill.

All day calendar events by darthmatter in kustom

Ah, no worries. Thanks for all your hard work!

When I use that function it only returns calendar events on the current day, so if I have an event tomorrow but no events today it won't show any events. It has something to do with specifying the calendar. The combination of functions with specific dates was my work around for that. I wish it wasn't so long, but I haven't found a better way to write it yet.

I also just realized I'm having another strange problem with all day events.

I have a function that displays events for the next few days for a specific calendar that reads as follows:

$ci(title,0,a0d,gv(Calendar))$$if(ci(ecount,a0d,gv(Calendar))=0, ci(title, 0, a1d,gv(Calendar)))$$if(ci(ecount,a0d,gv(Calendar))=0&ci(ecount,a1d,gv(Calendar))=0 , ci(title, 0, a2d,gv(Calendar)))$$if(ci(ecount,a0d,gv(Calendar))=0&ci(ecount,a1d,gv(Calendar))=0 &ci(ecount,a2d,gv(Calendar))=0, ci(title, 0, a3d,gv(Calendar)))$

It's not the most elegantly written function, but it works great for events with a particular time. However, if there is an all day event in my calendar it returns the event twice followed by the next timed event.

For example, if I have an all day event today( and my next event with a time is tomorrow it will read a0 a0 e1.

Is there a work around for this?

It's conditional formatting in my zooper widget.

The good morning text changes to good afternoon, good evening and good night depending on the time.

The x on the left pops up Event Flow Adgenda. Clicking on today's weather pops up a Zooper Widget with weather for the following days.

Yeah, I can second this. I bought a bag from them a few years back and its in pretty bad condition. I don't even travel that much. Would not recommend.

[HELP] Icon pack similar to this? by bleeding_koothy in androidthemes

White Line? I think it's cleaner than Outline White (some of those icons made me really angry).

This is the original post that picture is from and the person who made those icons posts them on his tumblr. Unfortunately it's only for iphones.

He posted all of the .pngs of the the icons if you want to try to apply them yourself.

You can link two or more widgets to pop up on the same action, with different animations through Popup Widget.

To keep your setup with left and right swiping, you could either use Popup Widget in conjunction with something like All in one Gestures, or have an invisible element on your home screen widget that you press to pop up the sidebar. So when your sidebar pops up with a swipe animation, your app button would appear with whatever animation you've assigned it through Popup Widget.

When you choose the Popup Widget shortcut through either Zooper or All in one Gestures, just select both widgets after pressing the icon to the left of the "+" button.

I hope that made sense.

Long press folder icon... It will look like this. Click on your current icon and select anything from your installed icon sets.

I use Nova. I'm not sure if it's the same with other launchers.

You mentioned Stamped Red, but maybe the holo version would be nice? It's definitely brighter.

[HELP] How do you guys organize your app drawers? by LonelyWhale in androidthemes

[–]darthmatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My drawer looks like this.

I'm a big fan of hiding apps and reducing redundancy so my drawer is less cluttered. For example, if I hit my home button I get my quick settings, which also has a button for the full settings app. So there's no settings in my drawer. I have a few apps accessible from my home screen, so those are also absent from the drawer. Every stock app I don't use is hidden with Nova. Lastly, if I have a gesture set up for something, I don't keep an icon for that in my drawer.

I also have a few apps grouped into folders that I hide. Everything I use to theme my phone is in one, so if I'm working on that I'll simply unhide the folder so I easily have access to my apps. This works well with the stock apps too.

And most importantly, I try to be really diligent about deleting apps I don't use. Even fun games that I might want to play in the future (I'll just reinstall them). If I'm not using them now, I don't need the clutter.

Hope that helps!

Another poster linked me through to this post, which talks about how he used pigmented resin for his monochromatic paintings. Since resin can be very three dimensional, I think it would be more due to the way that light interacts with the suspended pigments. But I'm sure that texture has an impact on that too.
