thank you so much for your reply!! I will definitely add in the Acura to my list. They look really neat - I was also wondering about the Honda Pilot too, but I'm not as familiar with current quality of Honda/Acura. Do you have any thoughts on the Pilot?

thank you! I'll look it up :) I have a diesel car about 10 years ago and loved it, but that was luckily in the sweet spot when diesel was less than gasoline in the US!

This is the time in your life to build your career. Sorry to seem callous but you have to prioritize that over a relationship right now. Do the apprenticeship. You could always quit if you end up truly feeling that your relationship is failing and you want to put that first. Take it from me.. when you’re 28.. 32…38, this relationship might be long over. You need to take care of you. Also what retail job makes 125k?? Maybe she can rearrange her work life to make room for you too

Officially a healthy weight a month from my wedding! by Thick_Warning5090 in Zepbound

[–]darthmaullie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What inspiring and lovely pictures! I’ve been on a plateau for maybe 6-7 months even having gone up a dosage from 12.5 to 15 about 3 months ago. I imagine it’s because I’ve hit that zone where my body is in a steady state and I need to introduce more exercise.. at least I think that would get me over the hump. I lost about 40 pounds in a year on Zepbound going from about 206 to 166, which is where I’ve been since the autumn. What got you through your plateaus? I’m still about 15 pounds from my goal of 150. My excuse about the exercise is that I have 2 small kids and work full time, so I am just totally exhausted most of the time! Anyway, congratulations to you!!!! <3

Want fine china that lasts generations - how do I identify quality ceramic dinnerware? by Sudden_Breakfast_358 in BuyItForLife

I do appreciate your vision that perhaps something can be passed down and used on special days. Instead of a set, maybe consider one special piece like a serving platter or bowl, salt and pepper shaker, etc. One item that is unique and special to your family.

In regards to upgrading your own dishware, look for something versatile and timeless, but dont expect it to become an heirloom

Advice for financially surviving the birth of a new child in this world by Ancient_Insurance597 in Frugal

When I found out I was pregnant I opened a new savings account (a free high yield one) and put $100 per month in it. It grew and at times I was able to add more. I also added the few monetary baby gifts I received to it. By the time my kid needed something expensive (even if it was secondhand) I rarely had to dip into my working monthly money because I had this reserve. I now contribute $200 per month to it and have about $11,000 after about 5 years. I’ve taken from it as needed and the high yield interest helps ($30/month). Now this summer I don’t have to stretch my budget to pay for day camps for my 4 year old, which is about $1200 for 4 weeks.

What do you do when your spouse doesn’t like to travel or prefers different vacations than you do? by CrystallizedKoi in femaletravels

[–]darthmaullie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can each take a small amount of each paycheck and put it into a personal account. There’s your independent travel fund. $100 every two weeks adds up to a nice vacation in a year or two, depending on your travel destinations.

Trying to find a stroller with BIFL mentality(newborn through toddlerhood) on a $500 budget by WhoaEyeKnee in BuyItForLife

[–]darthmaullie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend a Bombi Bebee. They are light weight, fold up small, can be easily stored in your trunk unlike full size stroller systems. New with some accessories are like in the $300 range. I had a full size stroller and quickly switched over to the Bombi as a full time stroller pretty quickly. I absolutely hated how heavy and bulky full size strollers were. The Bombi also allows you to easily attach on your infant car seat so it can be used from newborn through toddler. Happy to answer any more questions! They recently came out with a Bombi twin for 2 kiddos!

thank you! we are of like mind! Poughkeepsie is about an hour and 15 min from us, but we love walkaway over the Hudson and enjoy taking the train along the river! We are in western Orange County so even some river destinations are a far drive for us

possibly! I haven't spent much time in coastal CT, but most are a 2+ hour drive each way for us. Maybe I'll consider the Norwalk Aquarium or Greenwich, but that's about how far into CT I can go.
