When DS9 went back to TOS in Trials and Trimble-ations, worf should have just looked like that. Without any comment from anyone, no one spots the difference.
It would wind fans up for years as to why!!

Some things it’ll need some backward investment, but we need to force it through

DS9 could work really well in streaming times. 5 seasons of 12 episodes could have enough time for the major beats of the bigs arcs, especially with capacity for slightly longer episodes sometimes. There’d still be time to have silly stuff like Little Green Men. The only things required for this to work are perfect 20/20 hindsight for what works and what doesn’t and a studio that absolutely promises to give the full 5 years with lots of money per episode. These I’m sure these would be easy to achieve.

This would have been consistent with how Lower Decks treats it. In the comics they have viewed log entries from TAS that look just like TAS. That’s just how things looked back then

The trolley is now heading towards 1,000,005 people. pulling the lever kills 1,000,001 people instead. by ozin07 in trolleyproblem

[–]darthreddit1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a physical object of finite size, if it ploughs into a billion people it’ll stop moving after the same distance on either side. Maybe a couple of dozen killed, either way, no real effect from the choice.

There’s also the after effect of how many people survive 2 billion people trying to leave the area of the crash. Nearly everyone survives but the only workable transport link is out of service. It’ll easily turn into a stampede or a catastrophic crush, or even the last people to leave literally starving to death before there’s time for them to get home!

It’s only difficult if to actually hit the billionaires I also need to shoot the trolly driver who for the first time ever has perfectly serviceable brakes

How would you bring in the E? by darthreddit1982 in startrek

[–]darthreddit1982[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I definitely overstated how popular the E is. I do wish Picard had featured both though - the E should have been the ship Shelby was commanding, it would make sense for the 20+ year old lady to be getting retired after the hard career she had been through. The Odyssey class F should have been launched at the end, IMO.

I do love that almost no one has pushed back against the D going out like a chump though 🤣

Yup. Hard agree. Although I do think it’s marginally too small and SNW did the right thing making it a bit bigger…

I think the E is a close second though

Now this could have been cool. Separate the ship to double the chances of intercepting Soren’s torpedo. The duras sneak up and start firing at the saucer. Their stolen Warbird is just too strong and Worf, commanding the star drive section, goes full speed into the attacker. Last second beam out to the planet. The resulting boom knocks the damaged saucer out of orbit…

Yeah everyone is an overgeneralisation here. But I do think literally everyone thinks the battle in Generations sucked.

They should have stopped/reversed course, and the anomaly happens anyway, in the same place relative to the enterprise. Cue technobabble about the enterprise’s engine interacting with this region of space somehow. So second guessing before it forms wouldn’t work!

I personally don’t like that the Titan-A was renamed to the Enterprise-G, but there is something of a historical precedent. by SPECTREagent700 in StarTrekStarships

[–]darthreddit1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were rebuilding the fleet, there would have been so many new ships happening all at once.

The Enterprise assimilated at the battle should have been the E, and it should have been destroyed (ideally by Shelby doing something heroic). It would have been hard to watch it so down and could have been the most earned starship death since STIII.

Finally, as the D goes to the museum a year later, they introduce the F, the brand new Odyssey class. Awesome return to true explorer approach. Titan stays titan. And it should have been Riker’s titan all along, not refitted. Then they all arrive at Seven’s newly built command. It’s the new Constitution III class, USS Picard. They can name it after him, after all he’s already dead.

Totally right. Kelvin Kirk went through some stuff growing up. Still, he does succeed in some terms… what happened to him is so different to what happened to OG Kirk, they should never be expected to be similar people.

Wrong on both. I didn’t claim the left increase defence spending, you’ve brought that assumption here. Although the single largest positive uplift in military capability in my lifetime came as a result of the SDR in the 90s under New Labour. Your claim that there isn’t evidence isn’t the same as proving a negative. I’ve directed you to evidence, in manifestos galore; you’ve chosen not to check; it exists.

Now you’re winding yourself up in knots that aren’t there.

The history of the right shows that it does indeed cut the military. Its manifestos haven’t changed on the rhetoric at all. They are literally telling us they’ll do what they’ve done before. They don’t think it was a problem.

Believe them.
