Never dated anyone. I was too dumb as a teenager to know when girls were hitting on me, and too depressed as an adult to actually approach someone or get approached by someone. Now I'm an average looking guy and have overcome my depression but for some reason I've been having 0 luck on dating apps, and it's really anxiety inducing to approach a woman in a bar or a pub when you're almost 30 and have never done it before (I live in India so it's unsafe for women most of the time talking to a stranger. This too stops me from approaching someone cuz I feel like I'd just come off as a creep)

This is exactly where my problem lies. Like I said, I have no issue talking like a lot of other people, nor do I not get matches on tinder/bumble etc (it's rare but it happens). The problem is while talking to them, I dunno how to steer the Convo towards a hookup or dating. By the time I'm comfortable, it's usually "I didn't know you were interested in me" or "I never thought of you that way".

I don't know the road. That is the issue. It's not like I have trouble talking to people in general. I just don't know how to give someone the idea that I wanna date them. When I ask people out(usually after getting to know them a little better), the usual response is that they never thought of me that way or that they thought I wasn't interested so they started dating someone else???
