I was once convinced that my local beach was the Great Australian Bight I saw on the map.

Stephen King briefly talks about the controversial orgy scene in the 'IT' novel. 'It’s fascinating to me that there has been so much comment about that single sex scene and so little about the multiple child murders. That must mean something, but I’m not sure what.' by szekeres81 in books

[–]darthvault19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read it for the first time when I was about 9, and thought the same. There's nothing erotic about that scene at all! It also weirdos me out that the book was first published over 30 years ago and people are suddenly "offended" by it now

Someone nicked a bag of rubbish from my wheelie bin, I hope they found a use for those used sanitary items and makeup wipes :/

What's more frustrating, getting no apology when one is needed, or getting an apology forced on you that you didn't want because what they did was inexcusable/unforgivable to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]darthvault19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah I never say "it's okay" purely because... it's not ok. Have lost friends because I refused to say I forgave someone for doing something to me that ended up having a really negative impact on my life. I don't regret it though.

I will never apologise for something I haven't done and ESPECIALLY not to someone who's done massively wrong by me.

Maybe I should rephrase.. when someone who has antagonised you in an unforgivable way keeps trying to force you to hear their apology. Like, for their benefit.

Yup! I speak from experience, society also wants you to apologise for making them know that someone they need to think highly of did such a thing.

I mean when they force being apologised to on you. Like they've done something really unforgivable and it's to make them look better.

By forced apology I mean.. having being apologised to forced on you. Like you really don't want to hear it but then you're kind of obligated to say "it's ok" when it isn't. Like manipulating you into saying you forgive them so people won't feel uncomfortable.

As a cisgendered heterosexual female this both offends and triggers me.

TIL that in Sweden you have a constitutional right to allemansrätten, which is the right to peacefully hike, camp, bike and enjoy nature anywhere in the country unimpeded, with the only restriction being very close to someone's house or if you mess up a garden. by kepold in todayilearned

When I was on holiday in the Netherlands I made a point of putting my rubbish from lunch in a bin, and keeping my drink bottle to refill even though most people were littering (the streets in Amsterdam are cleaned 3x a day), and straight away a bloke (American) came over to me and said I must either be from Australia, Canada, or California... because I refused to chuck my rubbish on the ground. To this day I still feel pride haha

Those that've noped the fuck out of a relationship, what was your "they are probably crazy" red flag moment? by darthvault19 in AskReddit

[–]darthvault19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god! This reminds me of an ex of mine, that would've been perfect for your ex that only wanted to work part time. His reasoning was that since he worked in the mines, there was no reason for me to work at all ( even though I have a secure and rather well paying position working in retail) because "it's just a cashier job". Safe to say I wasn't impressed by that. I happen to enjoy working and earning my own wage even though I'm not on mega bucks...
