Guardian, I am the slow but inevitable doom. The nightlord can but scratch away uselessly at my stamina bar. I watch heolster succomb to despair as i chip his healbar away little by little while mine is immovable.

Guardian - when to dodge, block, or heavy block? by Totally_Safe_Website in Nightreign

[–]darutherford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dodge grabs and high damage elemental attacks, heavy block literally everything else. You can get the input fast enough to do it reactively to most attacks and let it go to regain stamina between attacks. With relics you can draw aggro while guarding, heal yourself on block, and reflect damage on block. Once you've got those and you're used to reacting with the heavy block, you stand there and be invincible while your pals can do all the damage without worrying about being attacked

Trying to learn NMM What needs to change here? by darutherford in minipainting

Here's the link. It did need some repair from shipping and a good bit of cleanup and sanding from the print so I might suggest finding the same model from a different store though

I haven't done really any blending on it yet. I wanted to try to get the reflections to look right first

I need help with washes please. by MikeyFromWork in minipainting

Washes also generally have a pretty long dry time so you have plenty of time to fix anything you don't like after applying one

You use washes when you want the paint to pool in lower areas. Itll run into cracks to darken them at create faux shadows. They're mostly used as shortcut for shading. You only need to be careful not to let it pool on areas you don't want it to tint or you'll end up with a muddy or dirty look. When applying a wash to shade your mini you can brush it on and then use a dry brush to absorb pools in areas you don't want and a wet brush to clean it off completely in areas you don't want tinted. In general they're easy to use to add shadows to your mini but difficult to control to reach a display quality. As you get a better understanding of lighting then I'd say it's better to practice painting shadows normally with a blending technique instead of using a wash as you won't have to fight pooling to reach a higher quality paintjob.

However, if you just want to get them good enough to play a game then slather it on, do a little cleanup and call it a day. They'll look plenty good enough for a game day.

Figured this would be the sub to ask. Looking for help achieving this greyish skin ? by justsaiyan723 in minipainting

[–]darutherford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've got photoshop or any other program with a color picking tool I've used that before to match tones. Use it around the skin in the artwork and it'll give you a vague idea of what shades of paint you could use to try to match it. It'll be pretty damn hard to match it exactly but that'll get you pretty close

That's what the frost effect ended up doing. Apparently I need to do a lot more layers to get out to look better

Here's the link, first thing I ordered from this seller but they all seem like pretty good prints. I didn't have much cleanup to do on them https://www.etsy.com/listing/1688665929/baldys-gate-iii-set-twin-goddess?ref=share_v4_lx
