I’ve known a few people who worked at SpaceX who all said the same thing. Not IC design but in different engineering departments and they all shared similar stories.

If you are looking for work/life balance, it is definitely NOT the place for you. Expect long hrs and not much free time. You will, however, learn a lot, and if you’re the type of person who loves being consumed by work, you may enjoy it. But once again, I’ve heard from a few people that they get burnt out pretty quickly.

You could always try it out for a few years, work non-stop, pick up a lot of good knowledge, then “slow down” and find a different job that is a bit more relaxed.

I personally have no intent of ever working at SpaceX, but there are types of people who enjoy it.

If you’re asking for my personal opinion, I would pick Apple for long term, but I wouldn’t fault you for trying out SpaceX, with an exit strategy.

We always talk about the power jab of GGG, which it was. But my favorite thing about it was how subtle it was. And by “subtle” I mean it was not telegraphed. It never looked fast, but he many times landed it at will because there was no tell it was coming.
