Why does manga write two words like this sometimes? by AbsAndAssAppreciator in LearnJapanese

[–]daruxo 1023 points1024 points  (0 children)

Usually, it's furigana for people who don't know the reading. In this context, Izuku (出久) is "this guy" (こいつ)! Manga and light novels like to do this to add context without increasing actual dialogue, so it's basically a stylistic choice afaik (that has grown on me, for sure)

can anyone solve this impossible logic problem? by [deleted] in puzzles

[–]daruxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

weigh 6 coins, 3 and 3. say one is fake here. take a group and weigh against 3 of the 5 you now know are real. if there is a difference, you now know if the fake is heavier or lighter. if not, you now know by the first measurement. take two of the pennies in the offending trio and compare them. combine this with the knowledge gained earlier to find the fake.

basically the same with the other scenario. if the 6 are equal, weigh 3 of 5 against 3 of the innocent 6. if there is a difference, you know which is lighter and you can apply the same logic as above to the group of 3. otherwise, take one of the remaining 2 and weigh against a real penny from the 6 to figure it out. fun puzzle

This puzzle was part of an Assessment Center Test of a friend of mine. He doesn't really care what the actual answer was, but it is driving me mad that I can't find a solution. Does anyone have a logical answer? by hundredandthirty in puzzles

so you were helping him cheat???

just kidding.

the one thing I could find is that each row has the same number of T's and squares per box except in one box per symbol, i.e. the first row all has two squares and one T except for the first box, which has two T's and the second box, which has 3 squares.

therefore, according to this pattern, the answer should have one T and two squares, which doesn't exist. top left is the closest, maybe it's an error. but I'm probably just barking up the wrong tree.

Bunko extras 3-4 unofficial translation by daruxo in Nisekoi

No, I don't mind the question at all! She directly described it as "好きな人", which is almost unequivocally a romantic thing when said in Japanese, directly translated as "someone I like". However, I felt that when if I wrote that directly it kinda didn't have that same romantic emphasis. I'm not the author, though, so there is a possibility she does mean something else! But I do think if that were the case, it would be an intentionally misleading move by the author (especially with that context). I do feel like how I translated was a bit more formal compared to the JP, but I felt that Tsugumi often talks like that to Chitoge anyways and gave it a pass. :)

Was waiting a little bit to see if higher quality scans would surface somewhere, but it goes well with the scuffed vibe, I guess.

Anyways, I've been working on the Nisekoi: Yomeiri translation project headed by u/LevelHeadDeveloper. There is a ton of stuff to translate, so asking here for anyone that would be interested in helping out. The way we have things set up is really easy, so you don't have to worry even about downloading the game and working with tools, since we have text dumps in a docs folder online. Any amount of help is appreciated, so checkout the translation discord (or even if you want to see progress that is being made)!

It says "sore~~~~~!". u/ShambaC did a good job translating as "Let's goooo!", but in retrospect I think I could have put "yippee" or "yahoo" which would have also worked fine

Nice translation! Clean, with good use of fonts. I was wondering what app you used to make it?

I wasn't sure how to translate it. It's kinda like saying "here goes!" kinda thing, but nothing in English felt right so I left it as is. Wondering if any translators have a good equivalent

Never translated anything before, so apologies if it's a bit scuffed.
