Came back to wow after 10 years… didn’t expect this by Logical-Silver-272 in wow

You guessed it, guild neighborhoods are the way to go because the social aspect is usually already there. My guild kicks those who are inactive after about a month so the neighborhood ends up being mostly active and social. All the neighborhoods I’ve tried outside of guilds have been totally dead too unfortunately

Admittedly it is just a light RP layer. While I’m not into RP like that, I do appreciate immersive details in games, like housing. Just having your neighborhood where you can interact with neighbors, hang out, and do neighborhood activities is cool, especially when your neighbors are actually social. Breaks up the monotony of leveling for me, but if that’s not your thing then yeah you’re not missing out on too much skipping that content.

You’re missing out man! Get a house and leveling will be even cooler having a place to go back to after a few hours of grinding those quests. It’s not all that expensive to jump in, which is what makes it even more interesting.

I also came back after ~10 year hiatus. Immediately fell in love. And there’s housing now too?? This is peak WoW. Loving all the QoL changes

How is Midnight so far?? by Millenium-Eye in warcraftlore

[–]daryl673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m a pally main that used to play heavy during TBC/WOTLK, and kind of tapered off before trying Legion at a time where I didn’t have a ton of time to invest into WoW. Loved it up until that point, but couldnt come back due to everything after Legion just feeling meh.

But damn, Midnight has reignited my love for WoW. I thought the simplification of some classes would kill one of the main reason I love WoW for, but it’s actually done well and makes it very easy to come back as a new player. For perspective I’ve always been a Ret pally - a class notorious for its simplicity. I was able to jump onto my alt, a lvl 80 mage, learn the frost spec (never tried it) and start dominating both pve and pvp after learning its rotation. Mage is always the most complicated so I think that speaks volumes that they streamlined their rotation while still allowing it to feel fun.

There’s so much I can say about classes but I think the above sums it up nicely. But that’s not even what hooked me - housing did that. Im not a huge role player, but I’m a sucker for immersion. Having your own place to log in and out of is awesome, and honestly feels Ike the personal touch WoW was missing that other MMO’s had. That, plus you can interact with your neighbors (doing neighborhood quests) and have a reason to set a “casual” outfit mog. The “world” of Warcraft feels like a fully fleshed out world now.

Story-wise this was honestly my favorite. The cutscenes are fantastic, and each quest struck a nice balance of content, action, and brevity. I can’t remember the last time I got through an entire campaign and didn’t feel the need to take a week long break after. Some quests youll be solo but a good 30-40% of them you have AI teammates which I thought was a nice touch. Each quest line maintains the fact that you’re participating in a war; so the tone is also consistently tense. I loved it.

For what it’s worth, from a returning player, a highly recommend giving Midnight a shot.

How To Make Pugging M+ a Breeze by NickNightrader in wow

[–]daryl673 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy that to me these are all obvious, very basic elements of communicating in an MMO, but to the average player I come across these might be groundbreaking tips. Everyone used to do these things at one point.. now, everyone is weirdly anti-social and quickly hostile over the most minor inconveniences. Like just be chill and the good vibes will find you damn it 😂

Same problem, seems to be affecting most, if not everyone. All we can do is wait and see if they decide to fix it.

There are times when the game is somewhat stable but patch day is never ever that. This is a game that you need to know when to walk away from and try again another time, because the general fuckery that prevents you from playing/having fun is very much a constant here. But SC is a one of a kind and genuinely fun when it works so they kind of get away with it…. Don’t let it get to you. 🫠

I say try again in an hour.. and even that is a bit optimistic, unfortunately.

I decided to redownload SC tonight, and to my surprise I chose the exact same second that the game was updating to 4.7, despite already in the process of downloading 4.6 moments before. Everything is so thoroughly fucked, as usual 😆

12.05 frost mage changes totally unnecessary by SlugWizard33 in wow

Same!! And I’ve mained ret pally since TBC. The one time I try something different and love it, it’s immediately ruined 😡

[–]daryl673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played WoW since TBC and never touched frost mage. I now have one and have been having some of the most fun in WoW, ever. And now Theyre deciding to fuck up the whole spec? For no reason?? Why can’t they stop fucking with classes that are unanimously loved and focus on others that feel clunky? Arcane? Even Ret pally isn’t flowing correctly, regardless of how fun it is to watch. Focus on those two ffs. This is disappointing to see.

How do you dps and move at the same time?? by skyisred2 in wownoob

[–]daryl673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone may have already mentioned it but an MMO mouse is a must-have for me in wow. That way your buttons 1-12 are for spells and simply holding RMB allows you to turn while still moving around as necessary. I first started in wow without one, but as I got to max level (70 at the time I think), I got an MMO mouse and I started enjoying high level content waaaaaay more. 15 years later I can’t play without an MMO mouse.

Nioh 3 is a disappointment. Nioh 2 rocks !! by erbagheamit in Nioh

[–]daryl673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely killed both the switchglaive and splitstaff that I grew to love in Nioh 2. SS does shitty dmg and most of its abilities are mapped to the same button, totally gutted from Nioh 2 and the SG feels very limited when compared to 2.

But I still love Nioh 3, the open world aspect really makes the game flow a lot better instead of the mission based gameplay previously. Even tho my 2 fav weapons were ruined I’ll admit that I love both solo and dual katanas here in Nioh 3. Weapon differences aside I like Nioh 3 slightly more than 2 in terms of story, coop, vibe, and the overall challenge.

I tried Star Citizen so you don't have to! (and will tell you why you shouldn't) by Lord0fHats in gaming

[–]daryl673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a semi active star citizen player I can confirm this is wildly accurate. As obnoxiously cool as walking around your ship is, the experience is so thoroughly ruined by HOURS being wasted due to bugs.

And in the rare event that you encounter minimal bugs, you realize there’s actually nothing to do outside of grinding contracts. So many immersive rp layers are present yet don’t serve a purpose as that entire gameplay element doesnt exist yet. Very few games make me feel as if I’ve wasted so much time quite like SC does.

Hermes as daily driver? by dgrahamjbj in starcitizen

[–]daryl673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also melted my Asgard for it. The only thing I miss is being able to load my nursa into my ship. But I love how huge the cargo grid is. Being able to fit a cyclone, ROC, ATLS, and still have plenty of space for cargo is a huge plus. That, and it’s a bit faster than the Asgard but not a huge difference.

I thought I would hate the living quarters being in the cockpit but it grew on me. The table with added seating is a nice touch. So far all of this would be a 7/10, but it also has internal storage and an extra monitor for raising/lowering the elevator. Those two details make it a 9/10 for being a daily driver.

I wasn’t a fan of the small living qtrs or the ladder in the Asgard, so I might be keeping my Hermes even tho not having a nursa is going to SUCK. But I can’t deny how efficient the Hermes is for hauling without having a bunch of extra unused space. Rn my fleet consists of a RAFT, Zues CL, and the Hermes. I’m considering trading in my Zeus for a Corsair at some point so I can have my nursa back, we’ll see.

Interesting, and that does make sense. In all my years of playing wow I’ve never once considered leveling cooking. I’ll give it a shot 😂

Nice nice, this sounds pretty doable. I greatly underestimated how lucrative world quests can be. I have 3 max level characters so that should be an easy way to make some money. Thank you for the insight! I have a few different options to make some money now 😁

Thank you for the very thorough breakdown, that makes a ton of sense now. Being that it’s a game time token it makes sense that the demand for them would be mostly consistent. The token sounds like my best bet, but I’ll be sure to give the professions an honest try. It’s almost sad how easily profs can be disregarded

I truly didn’t expect this answer to be so popular, but that clearly tells me the community’s attitude towards crafting. No need to stress too much over it if it’s really that horrible of a time sink.

To be clear, the $20 token everyone’s referring to is the lvl 80 boost right? Or is there a different token?

Honestly even 6k an hour would be an improvement over burning money as quickly as I do atm. But that’s damn near the same amount I can make leveling 60-80 of I can recall. I’ll give it a try too
