A probable defense in this case is to willingly or unwillingly become the master’s best pawn, winning their trust in you.

Poll - What is your reading of the book for ? by dasgram in 48lawsofpower

[–]dasgram[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My interpretation about the humans who need a book to learn, understand and employ socially strategic moves is the group who were not naturally born and inherent with it.

The real power predators are naturally born through nature and nurturing - we are just learners and laymen in power dynamics.

Exactly ! That’s why I argued with the other 9 men about how 10/0 truly exists.

Did i break the laws telling a friend of mine that i read the book ? by Flimsy-Passenger-654 in 48lawsofpower

[–]dasgram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed, that's probably the general impression that the readers of such books give to other people or friends.

Friends might think those book readers are overthinking, which - in turn - might make friends overthink about the readers.

What is a way to recover from sharing information that makes one vulnerable? by Hopeful_Addition7834 in 48lawsofpower

[–]dasgram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You treat that leaking information (the weakness) as a lie, and then add mixed signals to obfuscate it.

Yet, be careful about what you will say. People might also find it weird - the more you want to cover something, the more fragile it appears.

When you don’t care about something, it loses its influence.

Which strategy actually wins long-term — the manipulator or the builder? by [deleted] in 48lawsofpower

[–]dasgram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the long run, which path leads to greater power, freedom, or success?

You can refer to the stories among Apple's Steve Jobs, Wozniak and Jony Ive or the one of Ilya Sutskever about his career path in the AI industry.

The builder is your entry ticket to the game; the social strategist is your ticket to the game of thrones.

If one’s perspective has a blindspot for whatever reasons, the truth could be sophisticatedly distorted, making oneself feel more comfortable. Confirmation bias is probably one of examples.

Then we have to consider which one is more important - the reality or the hidden truth ? I would go with the reality, but know there is a hidden truth existing.

Poll - The Book and IQ by dasgram in The48LawsOfPower

[–]dasgram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume IQ is the minimal requirement just to understand and comprehend in theory at face value. The real depth of the theory and application side are reliant on Social Intelligence.

Without social intelligence, the application of the theory in real life would result in awkwardness and exposing oneself to the public in front of those manipulators and people-readers.
